There's a program called "MailWasher". It lets you see info about your e-mail, BEFORE you download it from the server. (like, who it's from)

It has a nice button that lets you bounce selected e-mail back to the sender, making them think that your address is no good.

Gets rid of spammers, real nice!

I received a fake Sun Trust email in my Yahoo mailbox yesterday. My first thought was, "Who are these people?" (It helps if you say it like Jerry Seinfeld.

)

One that cracks me up is the fake Citibank email. Instead of text, they send a scanned .jpg!

Interesting is an email I got as if sent by my mobile phone operator's customer service asking for some personal information, in English

(see my location)

Also got one from "Citibank", starting with "dear customer"

(no I've never been a customer)

Someone also seems terribly worried about the size of my penis or my breasts, or about my sexual performance, or about my education, or about...whatever.

I have two webmail accounts I only use for the registering process when I want to download something, which get all the shit. One of them used to get about 60 junk emails per day.

On the other side, nothing happens in my Hotmail account

so far, but I had to quit ICQ because of all the shit I was receiving

Everytime I open my Hotmail the last few days I get a warning from Spybot that something called "Avenue A, inc" is trying to install itself on my computer and that it's a "known threat" and asking if I want to block it. Problem is it comes up again and again each time I open a mail or change folders

Open Spybot and select "immunize" then make sure it is blocking without warning you.
Avenue A is widespread on many,many,many websites. very common nusance

I've had liek 40 attatchment emails sent to me in the last 72 hours..wtf's going on here? I NEVER got this much spam/viral sends...

What is happening is that the spyware detected by tea timer is actually an ad banner running through the hotmail webpage. Its not actually hotmail, its the banner trying to set a cookie/push spyware onto your system(yes tea timer will go off if a cookie from a known spyware threat is set). Whether or not you get the banner is luck of the draw, so that is why some of you arent getting the warning in spybot. All you have to do is tell tea time to remember to block that app from setting a cookie (or whatever its trying to do) and problem is solved...

so, microsoft IS an accomplis in this attempt to hijack your computer. do you think they are ignorant of what's going on ??? or do the people that push their crap on unsuspecting hotmail users bribe microsoft to turn their heads.

this kind of crap is outrageous. let's all head over to redmond and beat the crap out of bill gates. it would do my heart good to hear him scream like a little freaking girl.

Not that I disagree, but I doubt that Ms's agenda is to purposely install spyware which seems to make their product perform much much much worse. spyware is essentially showing flaws in their product, so I doubt this is a widespread conspiracy to hijack every users PC for world domination.

however, its just further reinforcement that you should use a cheap linux box for internet use...(or at least an alternate browser)

actually switching to firefox has fixed most of my spyware issues. i just love to hate M$
