Sonicbytes ERA is the most complete software arpeggiator/pattern sequencer I have seen. 12 independent sequencers/arps per ERA. Each has 8 banks of 16 patterns with upto 16 variations per pattern - variations are altered patterns - such as reduced steps, altered step order, breaks (where you can insert one variation into another to create different variations). Each of the 12 independent sequencers/arps per ERA has 4 freely assignable LFOs, velocity, gate, fill, hits, delay and 5 controller settings for each of the 16 steps per sequence (plus you can join sequences for longer sequences and reduce the length aswell). It does take a little while to get used to the way it works but has so many great options and is easily user configurable with midi learnable note-ons and ccs.

Great program! :D

I love eXT's arp and chord functions but I've just played with the new Live5 arp....

Someone mentioned Oberheim's cyclone. I can ditto that. It offers a lot of variations.

Cyclones are awesomely powerful! Snatch one up if you can, they are hard to find...I also think that the Emu Xtreme rack thingy had a good one.... They don't make those anymore either...
There is geometry in the humming of the strings, there is music in the spacing of the spheres. Pythagoras

Oberheim cyclone. That should be easy to install in the VST folder. :D
And I don't use arps as much I should, what with all these polyphonic devices catching on now.
perception: the stuff reality is made of.

Oh.. Was the original question about software or VST effects? If so then sorry ...I don't own any software that arpeggiates worth a damn. Translation: beyond basic up, down, or random functions.

I used to own a Cyclone but found it a royal pain to program. It broke once and Oberheim's support was practically non-existent. I'm sure it's powerful in the hands of a better user but for me it was a virtual labrynth so I sold it.
