I messaged devicemeister and they say Logic Pro stock instruments is not able to be automated because these synths doesnt have midi cc.
now I wonder what synth that is simple and cheap that can be automated by Stepic
Hi, technically speaking, Logic's stock devices (like Retro and Alchemy) do support MIDI-CC when it comes from an external source such as a MIDI controller. However, Logic doesn't allow parameter automation of its stock devices via MIDI-CC that comes from MIDI-FXs (such as Stepic). That's my current understanding at least.

You wrote me you have Arturia Analog Lab, which should work well with Stepic's automations. If you'd like, we can try to figure it out together.

Since you asked about an affordable synthesizer, I recommend Vital. It even has a powerful free version. Stepic and Vital work very well together. And if you like Vital and want to support the developer, you can get the Pro version at a fair price.

Generally speaking, any synthesizer that allows parameter automation via MIDI-CC is compatible with Stepic. In Logic, however, this only applies to 3rd-party devices, unfortunately.

Hallo, thanks for the reply and support! you are so awesome just like your Stepic!! I lost a lotta sleep because of it tho.
I still can't figure it out how to modulate Analog lab V parameters and need your help with it.
I tried Vital already and I don't really like it somehow maybe because it's not very cpu friendly (I use analog lab already that consumes so much CPU). I have current budget under $100 and looking for wavetable synth (logic has already cpu hungry but awesome analog synth Alchemy already). Eyes on tone2 Icarus but it's out of my current budget. the syth does not necessarily has fx or crazy modulation because I want to control the modulation with Stepic! if there is any suggestion please let me know.

cheers

Thanks for the kind words!

Hive 2 by U-He is CPU-friendly. Although it's rarely on sale, you might find a license for about 100 bucks on the used market. You can also demo Hive 2.

You might also want to look at SurgeXT. It supports wavetable synthesis. I'm not aware of how CPU-friendly/heavy it is. But since it's free, you can easily test it out.

Re. Analog Lab automation: I'll make a short screen recording that guides you through the process and send you a link to video via email.

You could still automate Logic stock synths with MIDI CC if you use the (stock) Modifier MIDI FX plugin, using the CC number as the input and then using the 'Learn Plugin Parameter' menu item in the 'Re-Assign To' menu to pick a control from the synth you want to modify.

I second that Hive 2 suggestion! My main all around synth and it's indeed very light on the cpu.

I just tried it out and it works. Thanks for the tip! Even though a direct way via MIDI-Learn right on the device would be more optimal, the Modifier at least offers a technical onboard solution. That's great! 👍

With the help of this video, I was quickly able to set up automations between Stepic and Alchemy:

If you've already mapped an Alchemy parameter with the Modifier, you've taken the first step. Now, select a free CC number (e.g., 34) and enter it into one of Stepic's automation sequencers. Then choose the same number as the input event in the Modifier. Important: The Modifier must be placed after Stepic in the signal chain, specifically in a MIDI FX slot below Stepic. If you want to automate multiple parameters, you will need a separate instance of the Modifier for each one. That's my understanding so far. You might also want to set the Scale in the Modifier to 100% to get a 1:1 value translation between Stepic and Alchemy, at least as a starting point.
