Pretty much. Dont tell anyone, but Andy Serkis wasnt really Gollum, the whole thing was done with the Fruity Dance plugin, and a dodgy copy of Photoshop.vurt wrote: Mon Feb 22, 2021 5:18 pm it's a similar argument to the old "oh you use a synth/drum machine, so you just press a key and the machine dues the rest? yeah?"![]()

tbh, i don't think most of the kids watching star wars were worrying too much about preset design.Dasheesh wrote: Mon Feb 22, 2021 5:36 pm i can tell you zero made presets for professionals before the current state of things. he is not the problem.

The whole bizzle would have been so much better if they'd have kept Dave Prowse's voice for Darth Vader; "your lack of faith in the onion grayveee disturbs me."vurt wrote: Mon Feb 22, 2021 5:45 pmtbh, i don't think most of the kids watching star wars were worrying too much about preset design.Dasheesh wrote: Mon Feb 22, 2021 5:36 pm i can tell you zero made presets for professionals before the current state of things. he is not the problem.

I'll bite...
I agree (somewhat) with the OP when comparatively judging the new works from the old ones. The biggest difference being a lack of memorable themes in the music.
Where I stop, is at the point of having a lasting negative opinion. Not every soundtrack has to be memorable. At a minimum, it needs to further the story along and I think it did that well enough.

Thought they would have been made on computer, you can tell but I was only talking about the main theme tune, they could've just used the original, why did they have to (my words) cheapen it. Noticeable different in oomph on the initial kick off of the Star Wars theme.Dasheesh wrote: Sun Feb 21, 2021 11:22 pm look man, these movies, like the marvel movies, and most recent movies, were made by computer. because, it was cheap and easy to spit out these computer generated content that people would watch and listen to. do you blame them? it's a business. what we are missing is well made timeless pieces like the dark knight series (probably the last great films). Disney is subject to protest, and their goal is to offend no one, and everyone is offended. Disney is in trouble, but not done. they have very creative people working for them, they just have to get over their fear of offending every one. they need to get back to making classics, and away from making content.
I wasn't offended either, the film was decent but just the themetune lacked. It was so noticeable that I instantly took to You Tube to be proved right.
Standards when it comes to music are definitely slipping. Watched an 80's Top of the Pops the other night and looking at all that talent - Duran Duran, Pet Shop Boys, Whitney Houston, Depeche Mode, Madonna, Adam and the Ants, Madness, the list is endless, even The KLF, outstanding and the crowd going mad. Cut forward to today and the charts and man, what's it become?

in case you guys haven't noticed, EVERYTHING has been cheapened. the studios are not making the income they use to, but the studio owners still have the same paychecks. even the mighty john williams reuses and licenses his themes over and over again. go listen to the newest "lost in space" tv show soundtrack and tell me what you hear.
over, and over, and over again.... computers man. a blessing and a curse.

But in many (most) cases, his themes aren't necessarily his, to begin with.Dasheesh wrote: Mon Feb 22, 2021 9:24 pm in case you guys haven't noticed, EVERYTHING has been cheapened. the studios are not making the income they use to, but the studio owners still have the same paychecks. even the mighty john williams reuses and licenses his themes over and over again. go listen to the newest "lost in space" tv show soundtrack and tell me what you hear.

Yeah music has definitely gone downhill. Productions aren't as good done all in the box. I listen to old skool house records and the production is far superior because it was all done with anologue gear. EVERYTHING. The drums, the samples/samplers, the synths, the mixing console, So much better.Dasheesh wrote: Mon Feb 22, 2021 9:24 pm in case you guys haven't noticed, EVERYTHING has been cheapened. the studios are not making the income they use to, but the studio owners still have the same paychecks. even the mighty john williams reuses and licenses his themes over and over again. go listen to the newest "lost in space" tv show soundtrack and tell me what you hear.

if music has gone downhill, as a musician, aren't you to blame?
