Yes I can mount the pc on the mac. Its the same problem, copying from the pc to the mac is fine, but copying from the mac to the pc it's slow...
It did work a long time ago, I never changed any settings, I could have swore it changed when I uninstalled norton but I just installed it and nothing changed...
Do you think it would be a waste of time to call dell? I feel like most of the time I know more than the people at tech support.

Well, if you can even understand the guy now. I'd say hit some more forums, esp Mac forums to see if anyone has an idea. Anandtech might not be a bad idea either. Something with the mac init'ing the transfer sets something wrong, like packet size or...? OK hey, I wanted to let anybody interested know I fixed my problem!!!
It turns out that it was the pc and it was the registry settings -
I downloaded this program:
http://www.cablenut.com
it put a bunch of new values in my registy - there are preset files that you can download that corespond to the speed of your computer - I picked cable and it's flying again:)
