zarf wrote: Fri Apr 02, 2021 12:38 pm The reminder nag screen about the time limited demo has got pretty annoying after using it for an hour or so - it is constantly breaking my workflow to the extent I'm considering just giving up sadly :(
Thanks for warning about the nag screen. I was considering participating this month, but just thinking about a message appearing repeatedly on my screen I prefer to wait to see what OSC brings us in the coming months. :tu:
It is a great synth and a great developer :hail: , so I'm sorry if I have put you or anyone else off from trying it. That's not my intention here.
I agree with what z' says about why it's an issue - when the screen comes up, you can't just click it to go back to work, you have to close the UI completely and then do whatever you need to do in your DAW to bring it back - which is no bother once or twice, but in an OSC with loads of instances open it gets old pretty quick!

Yes, I'm thinking to offer a 50% off to every participants to this OSC, could it be good idea?
Or just more ashamed promo? LOL

I can't tell you how to run your business, but if it were me, I might offer a free copy to anyone who actually completes a track and allows you to use it in a playlist on your website. You are in essence getting some beta testing for a month in addition to some content that might showcase your creation in a good way (or a crappy way, those you can put pretty low in the playlist :ud:)

z.prime wrote: Thu Apr 01, 2021 11:01 pm Just an FYI it looks like on macOS (Catalina or greater) the plugin bundles aren't signed and you might need to do:

Code: Select all

sudo xattr -rd com.apple.quarantine /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST/Sinmad.vst
to get the VST to work, or:

Code: Select all

sudo xattr -rd com.apple.quarantine /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/Sinmad.component
to get the AU to work (haven't tested the latter, but the first one solved my problem for VST).
Thanks for the hint, I thought that copying the bundle as admin could have been enough. I will try to make signed bundles available ASAP.

I agree, I will tell Brian and Richard that it's official: free Sinmad license to anyone who who actually completes a track (in this OSC) and allows NUSofting to use it on website.

About the "nag screen", sorry I forgot to remove it for the Sinmad build for this OSC, I will do right away and provide a new versions.

That is very generous liqih! :hyper:
Would it be helpful if we also provide presets as well for you to choose your favourites for a release?

Amazing. THANK YOU

Now everybody - no reason to not dive in. The nag will be gone, and we are kindly being offered a free copy just for joining in. The synth sounds good and is very creative, that's for sure...

Interesting! My Reaper do not show the synth. When I look in the "reaper-vstplugins64.ini" I see the synth in the last line, but with a short entry. No second number, no brand name and no !!!VSTi.

Doc., can you you show me your line of the "reaper-vstplugins64.ini" to see, what you have there?

[to do: check in Windows 20H2 and Mac signed installers]

I sent a new link to Richard and Brian, but you can immediately use the link above for the next 24h.

Here's mine: Sinmad_x64.dll=7A482E809827D701,1936289392,Sinmad by NUSofting (nusofting.com)!!!VSTi

Easy to overlook: options > preferences > VST > rescan... > plugins that failed to scan > select offending plugin. It might just scan on a second attempt.

You can also manually edit reaper-vstplugins64.ini. To force REAPER to accept a ( working ) plugin, just add a 10-digit number that's not already in use, and the name/dev/type tag as above.

I'm perplexed. DLL in the correct spot. DAWS set up to that location. Rescanned directories (many times). Same across all DAWS. Obviously something unique to my system, but I'm out of ideas.

Sometimes, after playing for a while, all of a sudden, there is no sound at all. I am on Windows 10, Ableton Live 11 Suite. Further, please advise on how to save user presets, since I have to make a screenshot for each track for safety reason. Do we need to contact Richard for the update? Please clarify. BTW, Sinmad is a unique and awesome Synth. Thanks.

Are you sure? it looks like it's in a Sinmad subdirectory... maybe try copying the dll up to the parent?
