Ok... I purchased Material Comp. Very nice tool. I love the textures it can create. One of my top disappointments is digital saturation tools usually impart a bad sounding fuzzy haze and call it "saturation". But Material Comp appears to create the texture without the bloat. And its a nice compressor with lots of options.

I’ve not watched, but it’s pretty weird that a studio is doing YouTube reviews.

Maybe there’ll be a celebrity boxing fight between White Sea and Mayweather...

At least the people at Tegeler Audio Manufaktur take him seriously. If in doubt, I'll trust them more than some random folks at KVR.

Personally I like White Sea Studio and I think he knows his stuff. What I meant was people seem to have strong feelings towards him. Imo if you find his stuff valuable, watch it, if you don't, then don't. Simple.

He very often has a point in what he is saying. I watched it and found it quite neutral. Everyone can demo stuff, and nobody has to watch these entertainment clips on intertube.

The dude is one of the better ones after all.

My kids are obsessed with these youtubers, most of them seem fake to me, so it puts me off watching them.
Last time I was checking it Jordan Rudess was endorsing everything, it put me off big time..

Does The White Sea Studio advertise and endorse Tegeler Audio Manufaktur?
It would certainly explain them taking him seriously, right?

I think most of the plugins being "reviewed" by YouTubers are basically advertisement. Wytse brings a lot of strong opinions into his reviews, especially regarding UI and his distain for "marketing speak". Also he believes that no manual should be needed to understand a plugin, so he opens them up without preparation. I believe some people think that he then doesn't do the developers justice. Might even be the case once in a while.

Trying to get back on topic though, this particular review on the Material Comp also seemed neutral to me. He didn't trash it. Some things he liked, some things he didn't. I demoed it for a little while and I got some good results. But I still deleted it, because I have so many compressors and "sound-goodizers" that I don't use enough as it is, just couldn't justify adding another.
