Synth1 cant do a 3rd of what Vital can do... nowhere close

But very low cpu compared to Vital.

100% lol... The CPU is one of the main detriments to Vital lol... They really have been hounding the creator over that but i have faith it will get better... they hounded the creator of Serum the same way and he got it done

No, it isn't. The limited base version is free, the other versions are payware.

Nothing is limited with the base version... only thing extra you get with the paid version are more presets and wavetables... u can find those anywhere free

Apart from that, I definitely consider additional waveforms/wavetables a feature. My point is that it's not a free synth though. It's a payware synth, which comes with a free, feature limited version. It doesn't matter how many features are missing. It never mattered for any other synth. Stating that it's a free synth is therefor simply... wrong.

Cmon now lol... I would call it free with an paid option.. I’ll give you the text-to-wavetable thing (limited number of entries per day) but I would think of skins more like a extra feature, especially when they give you the option to create your own right on the synth... They even say “full synth with all features” on the site under the basic tab https://vital.audio/#getvital

I honestly dont get why they didnt cripple it more for the free version tbh, theres not really much incentive to want to pay imho but im not complaining

When you download Vital you get the same binary file whether you got the free version for it or not. When you open it and sign in there is no check on your system to see what version you have and it doesn't enable/disable any features based on that.

When Vital communicates with my server is where the difference comes in. The server will feed more content (presets, wavetables, LFO shapes, skins) to paid versions. Text to wavetable also communicates with my server to get the text-to-speech result (before you ask, the only way to get a good text-to-speech result is through cloud services). Since this is a paid service I use, I charge for it. There are other perks but they're access to newer versions first and other stuff not relating to actual use.

I think this is why most people say Vital is free. It's a free synth with paid 'cloud' features.

You can download it, use it, program your own patches, save them.... all for free, with full functionality. That makes it a free synth, afaic, period.

Cost is introduced if you want extra content, as the dev above has noted. But insisting that it's not actually 'free' despite these basic facts is incredibly pedantic at best and just flat-out wrong at worst.
