That looks and sounds pretty neat. But where does the number 106 come from? 128 notes is about 10.5 octaves in 12edo tuning. If you multiply 128 by 16, you get a total of 2048 notes. If you divide that by 10.5 octaves, you get about 195. Or similarly, if you multiply the 12 notes per octave by 16 channels, you get 192 notes per octave. So really, you should be getting 190-200 notes per octave with the same number of octaves that you were getting with only one 128-note MIDI channel in 12edo tuning. So I don't know where 106 comes from.
Erv Wilson designed his own mathematical equations similar to fractalixm to derive scales. And so can you It's not about math though it can be.
Are there more than 128 notes in MIDI 2.0?

Soooo... Is the answer yes or no?
That sounds like what I want. I want to be able to send arbitrary frequencies to a synth/soundfont player. So MIDI 2.0 does provide this? Currently, I've been cycling through channels, sending notes and pitch bends to adjust them, but the pitch bends can still be audible. Are there any software synths/soundfont players that support this?

I reread page 1 (somewhat confusing indeed) and the answer (as I understood) is Yes, the midi 2 protocol allows to directly (in one message) target a frequency with a precision of 0.2 cents.
How that works in practice (controllers & synths) I truely don't know (nor care)
