True, I had to catch offending plug-ins in the past, by removing them one by one until I found the offender, but guess what? I had to do the same recently despite this stupid "technology". Because programmers prepare their plug-ins to pass validation, but they can still cause crashes after that. And this severely slowed down initialization processes, unnecessarily.
