Too bad NI doesn't have the same team they once had working on Kore, this is when they we're at the top of their game.

Thanks for confirming - I'd rather stay within my array of Macs, but in worst case I can use my Windows computer.

I've just spent the better part of a day trying to get Kore working on Windows 10. Just crashing on start.
Where is this famous PCs-keep-their-compatibility better than Macs? Damn this is annoying.

Downloaded the ISO from NI. Mounted and installed. Updated to 2.14. Crashes directly when it opens. Tried some compatibility settings from 9 -> Vista no change just crashes.

Any PC gurus who can offer some advice?

Sorry - I was using it on Mac upto my recent move to Big Sur, ironically I found it to be very stable on Mac between all the OS changes, just wasn't able to install the hardware part anymore and now I doubt it will work at all so I have let go of it. NI never should have dropped it - it could be so great now.

It is, but Kore 2 was discontinued, 10 years ago? While the very latest version of any software for MacOS can stop working between two MacOS updates.

Anyway, even it it was some while ago I had Kore 2 installed, I didn't have a problem in Windows 10, but it could have been an earlier version of Windows 10. Now I have Windows 11 installed (none of my installed applications stopped working when upgrading), so it's not really relevant to try to install and run it.

I was pretty sure I read in this thread that it worked just beautifully on Windows 10. But you mean a later update of Windows 10 quite recently broke the compatibility?

I mean it could have broken compatibility, I can't tell for sure since I haven't had Kore installed for a while, but there was (IIRC) a larger update last spring. You are testing with the latest v2.14 64-bit version I assume?

I assume it is, but Native Instruments doesn't say much besides giving a link to an older version 2.xx as a large ISO file. Then you have to update it to 2.14. Both the installation and update went fine without any errors. When I start it the GUI comes up for half a second then crashes.

On my beaten up old Macbook all installs just fine. It just doesn't want to authorize. And on my PC it authorizes just fine - but crashes. An alternative would be to buy an old Windows 7 laptop. I would imagine one of those wouldn't cost too damn much these days.

Yeah, it was that 'no way to authorize' back in '18 ended Kore for me. The S/N in Native Access returned no result.

The standalone app crashes like there is no tomorrow, but the plugins do work. After being spoiled with Macs installing plugins in just one place, I tracked down the plugins and voila - all runs smoothly.

Effing fantastic.
So just for the record. As of 2021-11-15, Kore 2 runs mostly fine on Windows 10.

Hi All!

So glad to find this thread! I made the difficult decision to start migrating away from my Windows 8.1 computer I've had running (starting with XP) for the last 12 years to a new Mac Mini M1, where I was pretty sure Kore 2 wouldn't work (haven't even tried installing it).

I can confirm that running "Windows 11 Pro Insider Preview" via Parallels 17 on a Mac Mini M1 *is* possible. I had to map my old Windows computer's DVD drive and install from my original DVD, which took a few attempts, then upgrade to the 64-bit version 2.1.4 available on NI's legacy portal. I was able to get into the standalone version of the software but I had to install Native Access, login, and enter my Kore 2 serial number (twice) to get it registered, but it actually works!

Getting ready to install all of the Kore soundpacks I've used for so many years (Deep Freq, Deep Reconstructions, etc.). Super excited to finally have this on a virtual OS.

Now I just need to figure out how to get audio / MIDI to a VST running on a virtual Windows 11 instance.

Cheers,

-loops

Thanks for confirming - and did you manage to make Audio / MIDI running well on your virtual Win11?

I have just successfully installed and activated Kore 2 and all sound packs on Big Sur (using a Kore 2 installer edited to skip the OS check) - had to copy over a load of stuff manually from a backup drive but once I had it all in place all that needed doing was relocating some of the sound packs in NA and entering the serials from my account. Amazed really that I was able to do this - Kore 2 was certainly built to last despite no longer being supported.

This might have been the most joyous thing I've read this entire year. I beg you - whenever you have the time - could you please make a short guide on how you pulled this through?
