Torque (I don’t think there’s anything else like this?)
J37: Yes, Satin blows it away in capability and depth. Satin's a tape machine toolbox, so if you want to take full advantage read the manual. You'd also get a tape delay and tape flanger and compander in the process (Dolby A trick, and watch the Dan Worrall compander video). Satin instances can talk to each other to emulate multitracking scenarios.

Note Satin has a constant noisefloor (like a tape machine would). When Hiss is set to 0 it peaks at ~-120db, with auto mute it peaks at -150 dB. J37 has a noise knob that is completely silent then jumps to ~-120 dB and can increase to ~-73 dB.

Torque replacement: Eventide Physion. Set Tonal Effects section to Pitch mode. The workflow is a lot more focused in Torque obviously. But demo it and see if it suits your workflow.

Ok so far i have bought two bundles on sale (see below) + Satin. Just looking for Pro-Q in the classifieds, along with an SSL bus compressor and Major Tom for the DBX. I'll check out physion also, thanks yellowmix. I'll be picking up some of the more 'esoteric' offerings by Kush-audio later down the line to stand in for the TG12345 but the Curve Bender looks interesting. I like having a bunch of separate comps at my disposal - not a fan of the DMG Trackcomp GUI after i demo'd. Presswerk seems cool but i like being able to load up different plugs and not do too much tweaking.

Did you try the "View Presets" in Presswerk? The GUI changes radically.

I just demod it now and decided to add it to my arsenal. Think I’m covered for compressors now ;)

Try Toneboosters EQ4. It's a great EQ and it costs only 29€.
As an alternative for presswerk there is the Klanghelm DC8C Compressor for 23€. This one also has "Easy Screens".

Regarding the CLA-2A, do you have this thing, by chance? https://www.cakewalk.com/Products/CA-2A

I don't know how it is. I just grabbed it for free when they were giving it away. Never tried it, TBH.

Sure, you keep saying that, and maybe you’ll even believe it :D

Analog Obsession are all free/donationware. I would recommend trying some of their plugs first before opening your wallet (or consider opening your wallet for them).

I really like the FETish compressor, which is modelled after an 1176. You might want to try that as well and the Britpressor, which is modelled after vintage Neve designs.

I'd recommend the NI Compressors and EQs for the analog stuff. They are nice and I believe that Softube coded the dsp in them and they sound great without hitting the cpu very hard. Melda MDynamicEQ is an awesome tool and has become my goto for surgical equalization. For a tape Emu I use Roundtone from Sknote (and have since it was released). It sounds great while having a simple interface and lots of options.

"No, afraid not. Our stance on this is that sales are unfair to all our supporters who pay full price.

One exception is when we release new plugins - the price is usually discounted for the first month after release."

Any opinions on Presswerk by U-he? Having an all in one set of compressors at my disposal is appealing, but is it a case of quantity over quality? It’s either that or the black rooster bundle / dmg trackcomp. Of course I’ll probably end up getting the lot :)
Presswerk is super fine, i love it.
I dont have trackcomp but i demoed it twice and you cant go wrong with it.
Neither is quality over quantity.

FabFilter imo is a great choice

I have a really good set of plugins now...one other replacement I was after was for the smack attack; in the end I went for the Softube equivalent.

Finally I can purge most of my waves plugs, maybe apart from abbey road studio, until something similar comes along.
