Here are a few clips I recorded today.
I recorded my Gibson LP Studio and Analog RYTM through the DI input on the UA 2-610.
I sent the output of that track to a Radial ProRMP, and then into the pedals shown below. From the last pedal in the chain into my Mesa Boogie Rectoverb, mic'd with a Sennheiser E906, Se VR1 Ribbon, and a mic parts DIY mic. 1073OPX for pres.

@justin blimey, a lot to take in there.
I prefer protostar modulation on the drums, I think.
Fuzz factories really are just intentionally-breakable fuzz faces, aren't they?
What's going on in drum sample 7, some interesting resonance there that almost gives HM-2 vibes.
Ultra-fuzz seems quite muff-y on guitar, but that choppy element is something different. Is there a bias control on there?
Broadcast the "nicest" fuzz here I think, but didn't realise it will smash a guitar quite that hard if you ask it to. Will be interesting to compare with my Accomplished Badger.

Thanks for checking them out. I tried to keep the clips short!
I still have all this stuff setup in the sunroom. If you'd like to hear the Preamp mk2 on it's own, I can make that happen.
When I built this FuzzFactory clone, I ended up getting a pair of NOS germanium transistors that were intended to be used with a Fuzz Face clone. I added a passive tone circuit to the output (based on Big Muff tone stack) and a op-amp buffer. The tone circuit interacts with the buffer in a way that can result in a strange resonant peak, which I absolutely love. The buffer can also provide a tooooooon of relatively clean gain, so it will drive the amp really hard if I'm not careful. I was trying to keep the Mesa's preamp clean for these recordings, so that you could hear what the pedals are doing.imrae wrote: Tue Jan 04, 2022 12:17 pm Fuzz factories really are just intentionally-breakable fuzz faces, aren't they? What's going on in drum sample 7, some interesting resonance there that almost gives HM-2 vibes.
The Ultrafuzz is a madman. It can almost get into Fuzz Factory territory but it can also be polite. It's actually two fuzz circuits if I understand correctly, with the 'Color' control acting as like a crossfader between the two. You can find a bit more info, here: http://effectextra.blogspot.com/2010/12 ... -fuzz.htmlimrae wrote: Tue Jan 04, 2022 12:17 pm Ultra-fuzz seems quite muff-y on guitar, but that choppy element is something different. and here: https://catalinbread.com/blogs/kulas-ca ... ultra-fuzz
There is a 'Gate' control, which behaves like a bias and has a huge influence on how it responds to dynamics. The Tone control is also very unsubtle, with the variable Resonance/feedback.
This is one of my favorite pedals at the moment. When the gain switch is in the left position, it's pretty tame, even at high gain. Really smooth transition from clean to overdriven, just by playing dynamically. I've used this pedal to distort vocals, it sounds surprisingly like my Neve pres, in that application. With the gain switch in the right position, it gets really brutal. Despite having few controls, it's incredibly flexible. I like to run it at 24V when using it as a studio effect but it has a more squishy character when running it at lower voltages, which can also be useful.imrae wrote: Tue Jan 04, 2022 12:17 pm Broadcast the "nicest" fuzz here I think, but didn't realise it will smash a guitar quite that hard if you ask it to. I think this may have been the first pedal I ever bought? You can tell I'm not too concerned with keeping my stuff pristine.
I really love this pedal. It's really noisy and the octave effect sounds kinda terrible majority of the time but it works surprisingly well for a lot of different stuff.

I don't often use the fuzz section of this pedal. I should use it more. It has a ton of freaking range and all faders can be controlled via the expression pedal or MIDI. I love sequencing this with my EHX 8-Step.

Great stuff guys all of it.
Ok here's something, just a quick one of the Mattoverse Airtrash. It's super noisy as it generates noise I guess. It's a bit weird, I like it a lot myself. Might not be the best music for fuzz, no chugs, no doom. It's nothing but the Air Trash, no cab sim, no amp sim, no mastering.
Capo on the 5th fret.
Honestly this is my 1st fuzz off
It's probably pretty loud, it's not bad, but if your worried maybe turn down the player a bit before listening.

fuzz, its not just doom! or metal, loads of grunge used it, and a lot of people like beck who are harder to place. this was the perfect music for fuzz, because everything is perfect with fuzz
as the beatles sang all you need is fuzz
