1978 - My Dads Electric Organ - (had the capability of picking up radio stations when pushing in the front metal panel)
1986 - A Casio SK1 Sampling Keyboard - (My sister Avril gave it to me as a Christmas present, but because it was so fun and cool they had already taken it out to play with and didn't bother rapping it).
1993 - An Atari Mega ST and Sequencer One program which came on an Atari ST coverdisk.
1994 - An Amiga 500 and Sound Tracker (The all grey screen version).
1995 - Yamaha PSR 330 Midi Keyboard
So, essentially, I began with hardware, but I didn't start producing music with hardware and software sequencers till after computer software sequencers (vie the MIDI connection protocol). Curiously, some time in 1986 I was playing with a music program my brother programmed and as a kid with a huge interest in creating music like those on Top of The Pops, it was altogether fascinating to do that on an 8 Bit Atari.

Started playing guitar in 1985. Bought my first synth, the Alesis Quadrasynth Plus, for 1300.00 in 1996. Bought my first DAW, Emagic Logic Silver for PC, six months later. Part of the manual was in German, and I couldn't wrap my head around it, so I bought Cakewalk Pro Audio 5 three months after that.

Hardware first for me. First was a PAIA Gnome I built in college (1980/81 I think). Then a Sequential Pro One in early 1982. The term DAW didn't exist yet.

An unexpected and probably unintended feature, but probably not surprising with 1960's/early 70's electronics.dlandis wrote: Mon Feb 14, 2022 5:16 amWas this a feature?THE INTRANCER wrote: Sun Feb 13, 2022 8:52 pm 1978 - My Dads Electric Organ - (had the capability of picking up radio stations when pushing in the front metal panel)![]()

I used to pick up radio AM stations sometimes in my braces when I was a kid. The orthodontist didn't charge extra for that if I remember correctly.THE INTRANCER wrote: Mon Feb 14, 2022 5:34 amAn unexpected and probably unintended feature, but probably not surprising with 1960's/early 70's electronics.dlandis wrote: Mon Feb 14, 2022 5:16 amWas this a feature?THE INTRANCER wrote: Sun Feb 13, 2022 8:52 pm 1978 - My Dads Electric Organ - (had the capability of picking up radio stations when pushing in the front metal panel)![]()
It's probably worth something now, given it's age.
