But this looks really well designed, easy to use but still powerful, with a few unique features built in. For 9 bucks it’s almost a non-brainer. Hmmm. I wish I’d have never seen this thread!!

I don’t really need a sampler, Kontakt and Live Suite should be more than enough.

Instead you decided to post a passive aggressive series of statements directed at me yet not directly addressed to me (so you could say they weren't addressed to me). That's what really ruffled my feathers.chk071 wrote: Tue Feb 15, 2022 5:31 pm I think it's pretty clear from my posts that I have an opinion about it, but, I surely wouldn't have thrashed yours.Your decision, of course, whether you want to share your reasons or not.
Hope you realize that it wasn't me who brought the WUP thing into play though.
Anyways, what are your thoughts on the new Waves Sampler? Have you tried it?
I'm finding it pretty interesting. The layout is easy to approach and straightforward. Sample set is not my taste but it seems easy enough to make your own instruments in it.

So, I have already bought, downloaded and tested this new plugin quickly. I opened up an old project of mine and loaded this sampler into the session, just to test it out.
I have plenty of samplers already, but there's always room for something else to play with.
This seems very simple to use, the interface is easy to navigate and the install for the sound library was around 4 GB.
This seems like an easy to use drag & drop sampler and I have obviously not explored all of the available features yet, but I"m glad to add this sampler to my collection. And for the ridiculous price of $10, it was pretty much a no brainer for me.
This sampler looks like it can do a few tricks that some of my other samplers can not, so I am sure that I will be finding a use for this sampler from time to time in the future when making my tracks.

I don't need it but it is really well done. And I find the price is right. Hmm.

i know it's only a tenner, but waves' bundling policy throws up another headscratcher. it's not in the inspire bundle, which is supposedly the instrument one they set aside when they decided they weren't going to bundle any more instruments into mercury.

Maybe it will be added later. I will wait a few days because my WUP is still active.gaggle of hermits wrote: Tue Feb 15, 2022 6:04 pm i know it's only a tenner, but waves' bundling policy throws up another headscratcher. it's not in the inspire bundle, which is supposedly the instrument one they set aside when they decided they weren't going to bundle any more instruments into mercury.

Really quick sampler with enough tricks up its sleeve to make it fun and creative, bought it and will get into it later. Not a CPU killer but a bit heavy compared to others. The integration with Cosmos is great and really the main selling point.
Did they license the sample view from XLN/XO ?

Installation failed for me. Just to know if I should bother with this, can you load samples by scrolling through a folder by selecting next/previous? Like you can do in Battery, Sitala etc...

Very, I wonder how it compares to XO in functionality as a sample organiser because I hear XO is the best of all the sample managers in that respect

There are other sample browser projects (most notably a Google one whose name I forget) that predate the browser in both Atlas and XO. It's not a super new idea, as similar visualizations have been around for at least 25 years in imaging/remote sensing applications. Computing power is just great enough now that you can analyze large data sets for perceptually relevant sound information.
Waves Cosmos is actually more useful than either Atlas or XO, I would say, because you can re-sort your searches by various parameters like Brightness and Dynamics.

Is Cosmos able to write metadata on the files it scans, or is metadata just a part of its own database?

I'm unsure what you mean. But with the waves Cr8 I can load a sample on the first layer, click the + for a new (second) layer and then if I click the load sample icon it takes me back to the folder where the first sample was located.danfi wrote: Tue Feb 15, 2022 6:38 pm Installation failed for me. Makes it fairly easy to load multisamples or kits that way. But I don't think it automatically will load more than 1 sample at a time and parse them.

This is what I meant, but thanks, I think your answer gave enough information about the sample loading process for meVitaminD wrote: Tue Feb 15, 2022 6:50 pmI'm unsure what you mean.
