I am a programmer (sort of)!

What I meant was, it's possible to add features to software. With hardware, it just isn't done. I can't have my bicycle upgraded to a bike, but I can upgrade SX2...
Just to be clear, i wasn't having a go at you. Just pointing out that a lot of people round here are happy to criticise hard-working developers when they don't have the first clue about software development.

You obviously are't one of these people, but there are plenty of them lurking here.

software has made users.

you could skip the rest. spoiledness is often culturally but atleast personally determined.

one focuses on features and is happy with the possibilities. another one focuses on faults and forgets about convenienty

person a: works his arse off at a factory and saves the few penny's he earned after paying alimony and rent for software and is very content with the beautiful results coming from his blood sweat and tears after he bought software.

person b: a pampered brat having all the software in the world sitting on his lame arse complaining about it all.

a lot depends on if you ever was a newspaper boy or worked your free Wednesday afternoon and Saturdays in the local supermarket or greengrocery.

I hate to spoil the fun but...

That website is a parody. Check the disclaimer at the bottom of the page.

Ummm, being possible doesnt make it wise.

No you cant. But you can make a hell of a lot of changes to a car, say. Ever seen a VW beetle with a v8 engine?

but I can upgrade SX2...

You do know how dodgy an analogy that is, dont you?
An idiot on Set Theory:

Requests from customers - old time companies used to PAY PEOPLE for giving and gathering that kind of feedback.

This information is gold to a tiny business selling its wares over the web.

Customers who take the trouble to complain are a help to any business - whether it is a restaurant or a software company. Customers who just never come back and/or badmouth the business elsewhere are the ones that sink a business.

Notice how developers get upset when they post some freeware and nobody responds. I am sure most developers are smart enough to take what is useful from customer feedback and ignore the rest.

I think we're missing the point of the post.

I recorded more music with a Fostex 4-track and a shitty Radio Shack mic with no god damn preamp than I do now.

The music I make now sounds better. Hopefully it is better. But I spend more time twiddling knobs and trying different compressors...and demos than actually practicing my instrument and being "in the zone", creatively.

I love that link, by the way. I can see how I'd feel the same way if I were a software coder.

No I don't.

Buy software and chances are features will be added.
Not so with hardware. That's all I'm saying.

Humm, I don't know, I think that this guy is crazy. Users are always right, even if they are complaining like crazy. When they do, is YOUR fault.

You could get spoilt with choice using hardware too.

Am I the only one to see the irony in someone posting a rant about how we should all stop ranting?
