I think by now everyone is tired of Behringer announcements. Must be the 356th announcement this month, I lost count…

And anyway, it’s a market where they can’t really compete via pricing alone as there are already free and open source DAWs available, not to speak of free or very affordable synth plugins.

Full DAW (if we assume it's made from scratch) with effect plugins + synth plugins that are supposed to be compatible with several hardware devices and all of that is supposed to be released all at once, from a company that has never done that before (even if they have a lot of professionals but who are working together for the first time)?
In times when even experienced developers are releasing public betas as official releases, it will be a miracle if this will not blow.
I'm expecting weeks or months of major bug-fixing. It will be released in the alpha or beta version (at best).
All Behringer haters will make their own Burningman (Behringerman?) Festival where for weeks, in the middle of a desert, they will be overdosing all those negative posts and comments. Those not high enough will participate in online hate and some of them will raise in their ranks to new leaders. Gearsl*** will be reporting it live 24/7.

Pricing? But it’s free… https://www.gearnews.com/behringer-free ... aw-studio/

It refuses description, allowing only the vague approach of adjectives: dark, light, raw, angelic. Who or what is making these noises? Where are they coming from and what do they point to? What kind of entity can leave such a troubling sonic remnant?

noiseresearch wrote: Fri Mar 25, 2022 3:44 pm Regarding the pricing: I can imagine they release a free DAW with a big amount of instruments and effect gear "emulations". Probably they aim money from bringing people to buy more Behringer gear (peripherals so to say) and maybe they start to sell content too (market diversity / expand product range). We will see Maschine clone at some point I'm also quite sure. Behringer attack :borg:
That’s exactly what they said in the gearnews article. They say free plugins will be released with the DAW but payware ones will become available later.

Just like the drug dealers teachers always warned us of. The first hit is always free.

I hope their DAW is freaking awesome and a complete success, just to see all of the haters’ heads explode. 😉

And there will be much weeping and gnashing of teeth on KVR over the resale policy of Behringer’s free DAW.
THIS MUSIC HAS BEEN MIXED TO BE PLAYED LOUD SO TURN IT UP

It also would be great to get the big name DAWs moving on more feature updates.

18 months is an eternity from now. Anything could happen between now and then and probably will. Wake me again when it's down to 18 minutes from now.
I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better? :(

That "At least 18 months" announcement is from 24 months ago, so it must be close :)

I'm sure heaps of people will be happy. Lots of new ways to slag off Behringer, and then when it actually comes out they can use 15 DAWs instead of 14. "Which other DAWs do you use with Behringer?"
