I can get __leras point. For some reason you single out Moog as having problem with chip shortages. And first title was "sinking feeling about Moog"????

Even car manufacturers have stopped production due to this chip sittuation.

I worked some years in military industry production in 70's, planned circuit boards manually at the time, and they planned circuit boards for second source components from start to be able to just swap chips in production depending on what is available.

Probably what car industry and others will do more now, not only military gear.

I never had a Moog, didn't have the chance to open it up. But I had an Arp AXXE and it had a bunch of ICs alright.

What factory these old tech chips come from, and whether supply is affected by chip shortage, you guess is as good as mine.

That explains the thin sound. You can get a lot of transistors in an IC, but they are all wafer thin.
