Is Soundtoys actively developing anything new? I know they do maintenance releases and updates to keep pace with Mac and Windows etc, but not aware of them releasing anything brand new in the last three years or so which is when I started getting back into using PCs for Music production.

Slate has made so much money both from their subscription and their highly successful VMS/VSX line, it wouldn't surprise me if they went shopping. They lack quality products in the virtual instrument and audio restoration (like RX or ERA) departments, so they might be looking at companies like Acon, Sonnox or Klevgrand for the second department. For virtual instruments, it's hard to guess as this field is so crowded. Nexus maybe?!

One level higher: Apple buys Slate. Or Arturia.
