Ew! What?? No! I did however download the song and then loaded it on a track so I could easily compare it with what I was doing and then I matched up the kick and snare. The rest is just sort of silly random hihats and percussion to fill in the gaps.

But listen to me now, tomtom1: You too can be a "drum programming beast" like me! It's really not that hard. Snares are almost always on the 2 and 4 and the kicks in between only have 7 different places they could be. Just listen closely and try to copy beats from music you like (and do that a lot for a really long time). And don't be afraid to slow down the tempo so you can hear things better. In abelton just make sure "warp" is switched on and in youtube you can slow it down too.

:D

yes, that's right. However, I would not have thought that someone would take the trouble to do it in a very traditional way, but would rather take a "shortcut". I don't use Ableton (but I'm jealous of it from time to time), I use Reason . But there are also methods to slow down drums, if necessary I cut a loop in 16ths slices and set the BPM to 5. That works too... but takes a bit of time.
it is better to have a track with some mistakes than a track without any soul
myself in 2022
