Whether or not you install Ventura the date of release has zero bearing on your overall security posture, especially with regard to web and email vectors of attack. Use common sense and keep backups.wangeroge wrote: Mon Oct 24, 2022 10:36 pm If you use the machine for browsing or email, security is the killer feature. Always stay up-to-date!

Apple added security features to Ventura. When you have to use backups after being infected, it's already too late. The sex tapes of your wife will have already been downloaded.
If you plan on purchasing your first Universal Audio hardware, you can get a free additional plugin. Just send a PM.

Apple adds security features to every release, even point releases. That is a meaningless data point. If you use common sense about what you click on you are unlikely to be infected. If you act a fool, nothing can help you. I take it you don't keep backups. Maybe put together a backup plan rather than upgrading to the latest release on the first day.

LiquidSonics announces all their stuff is good on Ventura, and one update was released for Reverberate 3 to fix a graphical glitch on Ventura.

Universal Audio hasn't said anything official yet, but one of their guys reports that it looks good over here:

I have little to lose (not a pro) - so was curious to update from Monterey, and see how it went. No issues with any plugins rescanning in Logic (over 1,800 - which includes large collections like Waves, Korg, iZotope, etc.). With Big Sur, a lot of plugins didn't rescan without developer updates. With Monterey, about 25 plugins didn't rescan without developer updates. With Ventura, no issues with Logic rescanning all plugins - they all passed. That said, there may still be some issues with operation/UI, but Logic, Kontakt, and all my plugins actually rescanned fine. First time ever with a major Apple OS update. Of course, one's milage may vary based on your DAW, plugins, prior OS version, etc.

Might also be a result of Apple having changed nothing except replacing System Preferences with something worse and making stuff look orange for a Halloween inspired theme.

FWIW I am running Ableton Live 11 on an M1 iMac on Ventura for awhile now without issue. Haven't run across a plugin I own yet that has any issues either. I have not installed all of them.

Yeah they changed nothing else. Lordy. System Prefs isn't worse, it's just more like the iOS settings. All the same shit is in there from before.revvy wrote: Tue Oct 25, 2022 2:14 amGood to hear.emasters wrote: Tue Oct 25, 2022 2:10 am I have little to lose (not a pro) - so was curious to update from Monterey, and see how it went. Everything of mine was running fine during the beta with a couple exceptions.. Akai already patched their MPC Software for their issues a couple weeks back, but Minimal Audio's stuff still isn't working. Something to do with the login to authorize the plugins isn't working or completing, so they stay in this weird blank/half working state. Warned em during the beta, but looks like it wasn't the beta's fault necessarily.
Cubase 12 is fine, Live 11.2.5 is fine, MPC's drivers are still good, MOTU drivers still good, my old ass AMT8 still works, every other plugin (lots of PSP/Waves/Plugin Alliance/Eventide/Soundtoys) is up and running, iLok, etc.. Just waiting on Morph EQ and Rift now. The 'freebies' Rift Filter Lite and the feedback aren't working either.

I’m surprised by the Settings overhaul backlash. Is it just resistance to change? I’ve been using OSX since 2000 and I think this is better in every way.

Or Stage Manager (biggest update to how app management works in forever), or the built-in apps (nice changes to Notes and Mail for example), or all of the under the hood changes like Metal 3 and 66 security updates.revvy wrote: Tue Oct 25, 2022 3:10 am

It’s funny that people here complain about macOS updates from both directions. For some it’s too many, for others too few. Very weird.
