Sorry, might have read to quick and Ambient Reverb isnt really made for Shimmer but more for endless Reverb Tails. Maybe try Irid then, should do the Trick. https://www.tritik.com/product/irid

Only you can answer that. There are many great iLok protected plugins.ghostwhistler wrote: Fri Dec 30, 2022 1:37 pmi don't have an iloke account. I can't demo the plug in. Not a question of winners or losers, they set things up this way so that's too bad. I would have to go and create an ilok account somewhere. Do I really want to do that just to demo something?chk071 wrote: Fri Dec 30, 2022 1:29 pmYour loss.ghostwhistler wrote: Fri Dec 30, 2022 1:04 pm EDIT: blackhole wants some ilok account stuff which I don't have and from what i've heard of ilok i don't ever want to use, gutted![]()

Too expensive. The OP is looking for 10-20 € plugins.El°HYM wrote: Fri Dec 30, 2022 2:00 pm Sorry, might have read to quick and Ambient Reverb isnt really made for Shimmer but more for endless Reverb Tails. Maybe try Irid then, should do the Trick. https://www.tritik.com/product/irid

Yes, that's the folder I used. As I said, I tried it and found it wasn't for me. ThanksT-CM11 wrote: Fri Dec 30, 2022 1:47 pmvst3 plugins belong in the "c:\program files\common files\VST3" folder.ghostwhistler wrote: Fri Dec 30, 2022 1:36 pm no, i put the vst3 64bit vst file in, but i had to rescan it a couple of times to get it to work.
The vstplugins folder is for VST2 .dll files.
Maybe that's the reason for the multiple rescans? I don't know, I don't use Reaper.

As you have Reaper, check you don't already have any of the Saike JS reverbs installed already (you may have if you use Reapack). I don't think they have freeze specifically but ones like Lava and Abyss seem to go on for days at maximum settings.
If you want weird ambient stuff then Lava is a must have anyway, five modes that really go to extremes, all shimmery etc. Another flavour to play with for free. And a cool/cryptic GUI that literally lets you play with fire...

Check out Native Instruments Raum. That is my favorite reverb that has a freeze function. Prefer it to Blackhole.ghostwhistler wrote: Fri Dec 30, 2022 12:50 pm I'm considering this plug in as it's very affordable and sounds nice.
However there are some limits I'm not too happy with. For example (iirc) you can't change the mod rate, only the depth.
However the freeze function is super useful for me and I've not seen anything comparable.
The price point is important so even Valhalla Shimmer isn't competitive. The only thing similar I've found is Polarity by the same people, which has lots of functionality - but no freeze.
Any recommendations, or have I misunderstood Xenoverb? Thanks

Respectfully, I made the price point clear in my initial post

I have never heard of xenoverb but just saw it listed at $45 on their site. Raum is $49.ghostwhistler wrote: Fri Dec 30, 2022 5:20 pm Respectfully, I made the price point clear in my initial post

OP said Blackhole is 10 € too expensive, even with the 29 € sale at the moment. So, I guess the reverb has to be either free or in the 1 to 20 € price range.
Which is bullshit, to be honest. Just save up a bit, and get a proper one.

just to demo "something" no, probably not worth it, but to demo eventide stuff, perhapsghostwhistler wrote: Fri Dec 30, 2022 1:37 pmi don't have an iloke account. I can't demo the plug in. seriously, price wise you are limited, and eventide are one of the better companies producing software reverbs at any price, let alone 29 dollars.

Xenoverb is £17.95 at Plug-in Boutique at the moment and is a “proper one”. It is my favourite for when you are not sure what style of verb you want as you can audition it’s many algorithms without the distraction of too many parameters to tweak and it sounds great IMO. My advice to the OP is to just go for it at that price. They can pick up a free Cherry Audio CA2600 at the same time.chk071 wrote: Fri Dec 30, 2022 7:14 pm OP said Blackhole is 10 € too expensive, even with the 29 € sale at the moment.
