That's hilarious. A visual representation of where NI have ended up.

Sad to say, I agree with what is being said here. Just upgraded Kontakt and while the factory content is high quality, the ability to manipulate the sample content has pretty much disappeared. The new larger interface is a canvas for art work.

After all, you don't want tools, you want expansion packs.

But it's all because of M1 and VST3. Don't worry, just wait to 2099 and NI will bring promised stuff to GuitarRig ;)

To me it was obvious that they will abandon Reaktor after they update it to M1. Even that some were saying that it's not true because: first sentence of my post.

They were too good, too innovative and gave the people too much value. But from the economical perspective they had a massive impact on the chances on the slowly saturating market until this investment company solved it.

I wonder how the Maschine users are feeling? What’s the state of play for development? I have the impression the Maschine was massive for NI but don’t know the state of play at the moment.

Post

NI is dead as far as I'm concerned which is sad, as they were at the zenith at one point in time.
I will take the Lord's name in vain, whenever I want. Hail Satan! And his little goblins too.

I’ve been saying this for a long time.

NI only has two products that matter: Kontakt and Reaktor. But mostly just Kontakt.

However, the sample library industry has matured a lot over the past 20 years. The big names all have their own sample players now, so Kontakt isn’t even as essential or necessary as it once was.

Factory content 2 is same as it was before just added some more sounds and big background picture.

Post

The experienced Kontakt user already removed the factory content, and expanded kontakt with high quality 3rd party libraries.
the big number of great 3rd party libs is the thing, where kontakt beats halion.

big brains who made absynth and reaktor no longer there, so get on the sample base diet and deal with it

Are none of the serious Reaktor minds at NI?

Post

Since native access 2 I can’t activate older versions of Massive, FM8, Absynth,… only Reaktor 5 still works. I need this older versions for Kore2, which has cost me with all expansion big money.
I asked the support if they can activate them again, like native access 1 has done it, but the support says that kore2 isn’t supported anymore. It won’t cost them much effort to solve this issue, because they need to move some code from native access 1 to version 2. NI has lost the view of customers since many years and are running into a new business system, which has nothing to do where it started.

Post

you can reinstall native access 1 on your system. there was actually a bug in one of the recent kontakt releases that knackered the new user library where the workaround to use na1 was the cure, so there's a description of the procedure on the NI forums: https://support.native-instruments.com/ ... e-Access-1

in any case, support shouldn't be refusing to help activate older versions just because kore2 isn't supported anymore. it's irrelevant to the problem of actually activating these versions, just as long as you are running an OS that will run them.

I feel like the future doesn’t belong to samples. It belongs to physical modeling and machine learning vector resynthesis.

Plus, the big libraries to have now are East West, Vienna Instruments, Spitfire, and UJAM, plus sample-based instruments like Omnisphere, Heavyocity, Ample Sound, and UVI. All of these have their own players that don’t rely on Kontakt.

I own Kontakt 6, but it doesn’t really get used at all. I’m pretty much exclusively physical modeling at this point. Pianoteq, SWAM, and MODO have me covered, except for choirs which I use East West for the Wordbuilder.

If I do use Kontakt, it’s for odds and ends like orchestral percussion and sitars and such that I’m not going to buy a dedicated library for and which the factory content covers well enough.

Yup. I own and actually am in the minority that likes Guitar Rig 6 for certain things, but I’d be fine without it. But I have a lot invested in third party Kontakt libraries, and fear the day NI abandons it (although I very much doubt that will be any time soon). Beyond that, I stopped buying any other NI products long ago; feels too much like jumping on a sinking ship.

Now if Im ould just wean myself off of NI corporate stablemate Izotope as well… I’m working on it!
