Here are some popular reverb plugins that are known for their good mono compatibility:

ValhallaRoom
AudioThing Springs
Valhalla VintageVerb
ArtsAcoustic Reverb
Waves H-Reverb
FabFilter Pro-R
Altiverb 7
Lexicon PCM Native Reverb
Eventide Blackhole
Sonnox Oxford Reverb
Mono compability and sounding good in mono are two completely different things. ChatGPT is superfun.

I made ChatGPT code a software synth for me. It didn't want to but I convinced it. It left a bunch of values out, so it was a skeletal code, but great if you're trying o learn how to do it.

I think that needs some kind of spectral delay/feedback.

In Goodhertz Megaverb, you can control the stereo amount for both bass and treble. It sounds really nice around 25%, a bit collapsed and "tidy".

@simon.a.billington: I´m not sure, if Bitwig offers mono returns.
Yeah mono rules :)
Big thing to watch out for then is stereo widening and more specifically those modulation features that seem to be all over todays reverbs. Dial them back or simply turn them off.

After an unsuccessful search for a mono reverb that works for me, I now just only use the left channel of my stereo reverbs. To my ears, this sounds much better than mixing a stereo reverb to mono, which cause a kind of phasing.

I don't know, if this is an obvious thing and if its work with every reverb. Just wanted to mention that here, because I read this topic a few weeks ago very interested and now am quite happy with my results.

According to my tests VVV is really good at sounding great in mono, too.

Makes sense to me.

It if works for your genre Waves Alchemy Glow. It was originally an 80s mono reverb. I've had more people comment on that reverb's use on drums/vocals than any other (but normally in stereo mode). Watch for sales it gets pretty affordable. Try the demo the online videos don't do it justice.

If you want something highly tweakable, I recommend Relab LX480 because you can adjust the stereo phase in degrees. It's great for finding a balance of how much reverb you hear in mono without having to collapse the perceived width while in stereo.

Fabfilter Pro-R2 is great!

If you can use 32-bit plugins and have a FlexVerb license, try its predecessor X-Verb (available as an official legacy download from SSL) which gives you angle control in stereo and thus more options for mono summing than most reverbs.

Most of the reverbs I use have a mono mode. Even in a stereo mix, using two mono reverbs panned 30% to either side with slightly different settings usually collapses into a nice mono sound. Valhalla room and Valhalla plate both do extremely well in mono and I often will only collapse the return to mono for the main mix and just move it slightly to the other side from the sound I'm running into it.
