If you look for good warm analog feel, I am very happy with synapse obsession (superb obx emulation). There is also the legend by synapse which is very well regarded (but I prefere obsession).

By the way, I don't think Surge XT is a direct Diva replacement. Surge XT is *huge*. It isn't exactly conducive to quickly fiddling with the knobs, it's more aimed at expert sound designers since it is essentially limitless. It can be used as a barebones synth, or as a virtual analog synth but it's not straightforward to program and the mere choice on offer can be daunting. Can it cover what Diva does? Of course, it won't sound *the same* but Diva won't probably sound the same as Surge XT either.
Vital might be a bit more accessible, for instance, and it still is a very powerful synth that can be used as a virtual analog synth of sorts (it's a bit more of a wavetable synth, but it can be used as a virtual analog). Or Helm... If you move onto paid synths... like, there are dozens of very good powerful synths.

It won’t. They have quite a bit of work on their plate with Zebra3, Filterscape, Uhbiks, and hardware. Diva2 wouldn’t likely begin in earnest until at least after the first 3 are complete and that’s probably enough work to last into 2024.andypryce wrote: Wed Apr 12, 2023 12:46 pm I do not know why but I feel like Diva 2 will be announced soon![]()

Yes. A huge number of them. But, as zerocrossing said - it depends on what your goals and preferences are. Diva's a great synth if you're interested specifically in what it offers, and there's also a massive amount of presets for it if that's your thing.dylmac wrote: Wed Apr 12, 2023 2:59 am Im thinking of purchasing Diva, are there any other plugins I should consider first?
I sold off Diva not long ago because I wasn't using it. I waited about a year before selling Diva while I'd had it deleted from my computer. I never missed it, and still haven't, months later. It was easy to replace Diva with things I like better. But there's no one thing that does what Diva does, if you only want one thing.

I presumed you wanted solely analog emu. from your question. If this is not the case, there are many synths to consider. Diva isn't a direction emulation of anything, it is an influenced by analog synths synth that has many osc types and additions. If you pick up a "supersynth" or something like Dune 3 you can pair it with Diva, and you can go a long way and not necessarily need anything else. I don't believe non-analog focused synths can replicate the beauty of something like Diva. Saurus is similar to Diva as it is not a direct emulation, and is much cheaper if you wanted to save the money to pair with a more well-rounded synth. If you go something, like for example, Oddity or Minimonsta you are "stuck" with that emulation sound, which isn't a bad thing, you just would need to be happy with its sound and you lose flexibility that a Diva offers (probably Saurus too). These are some general guidelines, my two cents, and imho.dylmac wrote: Wed Apr 12, 2023 2:59 am Im thinking of purchasing Diva, are there any other plugins I should consider first?

For me, Diva is unique and there are no alternatives.
Diva allows me to choose OSC, Filter, HP, EG from several models.
That is the most fun part for me.
I don't think other developers will release similar synths.
When a developer does 2 modeling, they would release 2 synths instead of putting them to 1 synth.

I'd try Synapse Audio Obession or Legend, and also U-He's Repro. While not as flexible as Diva as far as module choices are concerned, they're all excellent choices as emulations of analogue synths. I actually prefer Repro to Diva for the most part.

To match Diva flexibility to emulate various synths you would have to get various plugins, for example softube emulation of the Minimoog plus the Juno, plus the 101, same with arturia.
To me the other emulations that are quite good, but with horrible cloud service, are roland plugouts: The System 8 is very close to diva in the options in the filters and oscillators, but even less modulation. Then the Sh02, Promars and System 100 are probably some of the best mono synth emulations out there soundwise.
Saurus is like the only direct competition to diva, many plug ins offer the Filters but very few the different oscillators, the envelopes can be replicated as long as you can fine tune them.

It was in 2012, long time from that I know, and while I think there are many synths that equally good I don't think it has been surpassed clearly.vata44 wrote: Wed Apr 12, 2023 6:41 am I own Diva and do not really understand the hype. It’s sounds good, but so do a lot of others, like Dune, FabFilter Twin 3, and SynthMaster.
I bought Diva because of all the hype here, but I find that its effects are severely lacking and the sound does not seem to be leaps and bounds better than others, imo. I also find the modulation/lfos way more annoying to use than synths like Synthmaster and NI Massive.
I agree with others though, it does seem to model a lot of other vintage synths well, but there are a lot of synths out there that seem to do a great job at that for less money.

Diva and Saurus, both the two best developers, no hoops, incredible quality, best sounding semi-emulations. Saurus is like $63 on sale, it's an absolute steal. Tone2 has incredibly low prices and fantastic support and team.

U-he Hive 2 is a good alternative. Its not supposed to emulate anything but Sylenth1. And in the end you can do Diva aswel (minus crossmod).
Other candidates:
Native Instruments Super 8
Xfer Serum
VPS Avenger
Access Virus Ti
Access Virus C via emulator
Adam Szabo Viper
I would include Zebra HZ with its Diva filters but the sound quality is just not as good as Diva or previously mentioned synths.
