Interesting reverb for sure, but even at only $20 and with more feature and settings, at the end soundwise I find it hard to justify the buy when you have Valhalla Supermassive for free.

The technology is basically the century old Schroeder/Moorer reverb algorithm with more allpass filters. But who cares, if it sounds great go for it…

Moorer just added early reflections… Its quite fun to experiment with these things in a modular environment like Max/MSP or in Bitwigs Grid.
If its not about creating a „realistic“ reverb, you can get wonderful results…

I've tried that too, its fun but a long process, something like this makes it much easier so for that price I'll definitely get it, and I'd buy other versions if they decide to make ones for different reverb algorithms.

From this it sounds like cascade is similar to schroeders first reverb or dattorro's allpass loop

I will join the chorus and say I really like this too. It behaves really well when automating it in Ableton Live. Usually this is a road to nasty glitching or some other form of protesting workstation, but not with this. Nice sound design tool w slick intuitive interface. The tool tips got me into it faster. (Reminds me of certain MFL devices in some small way) Thanks for the great price to match

Also pulled the trigger after some testing, as me couldnt resist the overall smooth & euphonious character of this thing.

Cascade is another plug in gem by Phonolyth. Like Velvet Machine, Cascade is great for creative manipulations. Alone or in combination with other plug ins it is a very capable sound design tool.

Looks nice, sounds great, low CPU usage, attractively priced, no copy protection and named like my favorite FSOL track*. Bought!

Thanks everyone for all the positive feedback!
Right, it's basically a chain of allpasses + filtering with a feedback comb around them. To my knowledge, notable examples of this topology are Eventide Blackhole and Valhalla DSP's own Shimmer. Topology is only part of the puzzle though.j wazza wrote: Sun Apr 30, 2023 7:39 am I've tried that too, its fun but a long process, something like this makes it much easier so for that price I'll definitely get it, and I'd buy other versions if they decide to make ones for different reverb algorithms.

Having these all too and the Blackhole program in the DSP4000, I would say your Cascade has its own quality and sound. You're a bit too modest.why.turov wrote: Wed May 03, 2023 8:42 pm
