Is there such a thing as an inspiring reverb?

our abandoned churches quickly become flats. almost overnight sometimes.![]()
the answer is still "raum"
it is his idea to purge it, that is ill-informed

Weeellll, in the context of his post he wasn't looking to discuss that or have it challenged, he was looking for a replacement for raum.vurt wrote: Mon Jul 10, 2023 5:34 pmyeah, i read his op.CinningBao wrote: Mon Jul 10, 2023 5:31 pmThey're trying to purge NI products, and this is the only reverb they do own, so this might qualify for the worst, least-informed suggestion ever..!vurt wrote: Mon Jul 10, 2023 3:31 pm raum.

It's probably time to take this into the car park for a little fisticuffs, let me just down the remains of this pint and I'll meet you next that old vauxhall with the flat tyres next to the dilapidated burger van trailer.

Yes, it is possible.rubez wrote: Mon Jul 10, 2023 12:23 pm If so what is it for you and why.
Looking to buy one inspiring reverb. I only have Raum, which is pretty damn good, but I am getting rid of NI stuff.
Reverb is very subjective, so the only true way is to try as many as possible to find the one (or more) that inspire YOU, not everyone else.

Slapping Eventide's Blackhole heavy wet on a pad synth = instant celestial ambience, which can be inspiring to build melodies on. Though by the end of the session I might have toned it down or replaced it.
Anyone have any experience with Baby Audio's Crystalline? It's caught my ear as it sounds great in vids, but most plugins do
In terms of getting an inspiring room sound, Liquidsonics has it. Acustica's Silver is also pretty jawdropping on the right short-decay room/studio models.
Re: Shimmer reverbs. I lean on them pretty hard sometimes.

I'd keep Raum, and check the youtube vids that were close to it's release date. Some really good ones. It's more inspiring than any money you'll get from selling it.
U-he Protoverb might be useful for getting lucky with it's randomization

High end reverb used to be really expensive. To quote:
"The Lexicon 480L is easily one of the top reverbs of all time. Released in 1986, it initially sold for $20,000—about $45,000 in today's currency."
That should be quite inspiring. The immense sonic power and control we have now never ceases to inspire. The only reason why a production does not sound good anymore is the weakness of end user sound engineering knowledge and ability. And of course the application of creative ideas.
