I don't suppose some kind of analogue to digital converter for guitars exist? Something you can plug your instrument into and plug into your computer just like your keyboard?
Plug-in for letting your guitar control a plug-in synth?

Try a Bass VI. Short scale and strings closer together than on a normal bass. A lot like playing a guitar, but tuned an octave lower. I have one of these;

Also really good for playing chords up the neck naturally.
Also hear good things about the EHX POG range in terms of accurate pitch shifing, but have never tried one. Looks good though;

(Guitar to bass bit is from 1.47)

I played a short scale Squire years ago, Jazz Bass I think it was, which I found easy to play, perhaps something like that would work. The EHX POG didn't sound that convincing, at least not judging from the video thoughdonkey tugger wrote: ↑Wed Aug 02, 2023 8:41 am Try a Bass VI. If I'm going to spend money on external equipment I guess I might as well just get a bass. Is this the same type of guitar as the Bass VI you linked to though?

I have tried, somewhat successfully to create that plugin. Jam Origin MIDI guitar is the best. There is another couple for Mac, this is one:-

The polyphony of guitar is difficult to pull apart. I call it de-muxing. Otherwise u can use a Roland GK3 hexaphonic pup, which I can help u with software for np, as I mentioned. The de-mux for the signal of all the strings is so hard, I can't do it very well by tuning a low-pass filter and a band-pass filter to the end pitch result.
I use the Mad Catz, it's better, an interesting thing about it is that of course it sustains as long as u hold the note down. Also if u press the string down, it plays the highest fret, which is a trick that is not tiresome. Here's a drawing of my guitar:-

I just love MIDI guitar, it's difficult, but rewarding

Nice one! You'll probably find (as well as using it as a bass) it's also great for writing stuff in a totally different way than you would on a normal guitar. A lot of the songs I've done in the past few years have actually been written on it.YnJ wrote: ↑Thu Aug 03, 2023 7:33 amThanks! Downtuned Lute?
Slightly off at a tangent, on weird hybrid things, still thinking about getting one of these at some point;

That sounds amazing. It's the perfect guitar. "Look, ma, no band!"
