You need to answer the questions we're asking. You don't go to the doctor and tell them "I hurt" and then expect them to know exactly where you hurt without telling them.

We need more information if we're going to hope to help you. There are so many possible causes of your problem that you need to help us help you if we're ever going to find out what's wrong.

Start by what operating system you're running and your system specs. Then tell us exactly what plugin you're trying to use. That way we can either try that plugin or if we already have it installed can say yes it works here or no it doesn't work here.

Just asking "now what should I do" is pointless.

Thanks very much for your collaboration
Now, What should I do?
Where should I move my plug-ins?
Don't just move them, backup anything you might need; presets, etc. Uninstall/reinstall to a different folder you've created yourself and see if it helps.

Agreed. Moving stuff around willy nilly is more likely to cause a problem than solve one.

Judging by the OP's join date and the content of his posts I'd wager a guess that he's new to all of this. No shame in that as we were all new at some point. I've been at it for decades and still need help and advice once in a awhile.

I think we just need to start over with the basics and go step by step from there. But the OP needs to be an active participant in the diagnostic process or we're not likely to solve anything.

I was thinking, what would be a freeware synth that has a good installer (at least one that allows the user to set a custom install path for the VST2)?

We could walk him through the installation process and if we don't have that installed we can go through the process as well to confirm (or not) that it works in Waveform 12 Free.

Not a problem really, but I've been trying to get Waveform to ignore many plugins in the VST3 common folder without any success yet. (Experimenting with streamlining without having to actually remove those plugins.)

You can put together a plugin database that does not include all the plugins you own.

I've got a ton of plugins installed but only have my best of the best in the Waveform plugin database. No need to actually remove the plugins.

I like WF's plugin manager and it allows us to have custom display names for our plugins which is a feature that Bitwig still does not have.

I plan on purchasing WF 12 Pro as soon as fiances allow or most likely during the next sale providing their is one. :tu:

I use Cakewalk which is free (for now) and never have issues, but it's PC only.

Telling us the specific plugin(s) that you're having troubles with.
Surely there must be consensus by now...

I invite you to come back and I'll do my best :)

The plug-ins are VST2 and VST3 only
the file format of the plug-ins is mostly .dll
Here are some of the plugins I tried to incorporate into waveform
Spitfire audio plugins...
Melodyne plug-in was working but now "It's not found"
VSupright 64 bits
The Steinberg VST2 plugins
Sweetcase EP showed up for a sec then *poof*

If you need any more info don't hesitate to ask!
Thanks again

Hi guys!
I wanted to inform you that I created a whole new file folder for plugins and switched waveform's file location to it...still doesn't work

I get these messages lately:

Started validating: C:\Users\NoteBook\Music\VST Plugins\Spitfire Audio - LABS\Samples\LABS Choir\LABS_CHOIR.db
Random seed: 0x5962e59
Validation started
Strictness level: 5
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Starting tests in: pluginval / Scan for plugins located in: C:\Users\NoteBook\Music\VST Plugins\Spitfire Audio - LABS\Samples\LABS Choir\LABS_CHOIR.db...
Num plugins found: 0
!!! Test 1 failed: No types found. This usually means the plugin binary is missing or damaged, an incompatible format or that it is an AU that isn't found by macOS so can't be created.
FAILED!! 1 test failed, out of a total of 1
*** FAILED

Thanks

Spitfire labs works fine in Waveform on Windows 10 and 11 here. You seem to be trying to validate a spitfire .db file, which is not a plugin file, it is associated with the sample set for LABS_CHOIR. The Windows 64 bit Labs plugin is 'LABS (64 Bit).dll'. If you have installed this in a folder in your search path for plugins in WF it should appear in the plugin list in Settings-> Plugins and will validate just fine. Do you understand the difference between the .dll file which is the plugin and the sample files that the plugin uses?

This video is for an older version of Waveform but it describes how to install plugins so the concept is the same. He's got a bunch of great tutorials on Waveform so you should sub to his channel.
