P42 is great. Yes, expensive, but it does sound great..

I wouldn't go near it on principle alone. I heard there are $800 hamburgers that taste great too. The diminishing return point on plugins is about $100, and many super great ones far less than that.

They’re 2 separate plugins. The Bus plugin is just a thin strip with a gain knob that does the same thing as the Channel plugin’s gain knob.kidslow wrote: Wed Sep 27, 2023 2:22 am Are those seen by the DAW as two separate plugins or is it a UI toggle? Unclear from the manual.
Interesting idea to use a preamp plugin as a summing amp. I like it.

Anyone care to explain what's going on with Mackity? It works great at lower settings on bass sounds, adding some very subtle distortion. My question is, is it basically the same as saturation or is it technically something else?

Chris does such a good job explaining his plugins. I assume you watched his video and read his description? Here's an example with the Mackie 24.8 desk. I'm not sure how close that is to the 1202 airwindows is emulating.egbert101 wrote: Wed Sep 27, 2023 12:06 pm Anyone care to explain what's going on with Mackity? Appears to be a form of clipping distortion. Did they use diodes in those mixers? Someone had mentioned D16 Devastor as a possible means of getting there in the pre Mackity days.

I used good preAmp (e.g. Fuse VPRE-376 or Audiority Pre X7) plugins, same amount of stages and EQ in between, to get comparable results as in that video. Using distortion gives a more harsh sound, like the modern hardstyle stuff.
