Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Mon Oct 30, 2023 3:55 pm bmanic, sir! EXCUSE YOU!

Please stop trying to get me to spend money plugins. I probably wouldn't even have demoed Michaelangelo if not for you. Though, it's Tone Projects and everything they do is ace, so maybe I won't blame you for that. But I think you've done enough!

This is simply a bridge too far. There are lots of other Neve plugins. We all own them. Let's just leave it at that. If you're in that boat, then there's nothing to see here. Move on folks. Don't demo. Don't be tempted by the "it's really good and only $19 - that's like a cup of coffee" crowd! You don't need this. I don't need this. Don't even need to check it out.

Ugh...I don't feel too good. What's this gassy feeling in my gut?
Haha I hear you! But I can't help myself. I wouldn't even have demoed this unless for the damn OP noting that it's only 19$. Heck my daily lunch is sometimes more expensive than that (when I want to treat myself).

.. unfortunately this plugin just happens to be awesome.

Congrats on hitting 10K bmanic :D

I have no idea whether this sounds like the hardware, but I really like the flavour.

Oh shoot! Didn't notice the big 10k! :band: :band:

I really like that feature; especially that you can age the UI in real time.
You like a "feature" that makes a plugin look like it was left out in a sandstorm or was used by people who have no respect for the gear they're using? Ok, whatever...... :?
Yes I do. They did a great job.

You must really like this:

Of making a plugin look like it was used by unruly children.

Ok whatever. In my opinion ageing a plugin is utterly ridiculous. A least provide a 100% "new out of the box" option because that's what the gear would look like when used by professionals. I've never been in a studio that would allow their gear to be so abused.

Ageing also affects sound, not only gui.

Base your preferences on logic and reason not just on being contrarian.

Again, ageing a plugin's gui is utterly pointless. It does nothing to the sound and many times those scratches and scuffs actually obscure parts of the interface that do have a purpose.

What is the point of this? Who was adjusting that knob? Edward Scissorhands?

Here's a perfect example:

What is the point of the white splooge? It's all over the interface. What hardware unit would ever look like that?

Hey, you're the one who pushed back at me first. So if you can't handle the heat then don't start an argument, especially one you're incapable of winning.

I just wish you could resize the UI below 75%. It takes up far too much screen real-estate for me.

surprised by this plugin. Works great, sounds good

I've now used this plugin in an actual paid project and my conclusion is that it is absolutely fantastic! It really is as good as my first gut reaction was.

The way it's mojo/saturation works is just super useful. It's not too brash or harsh (which makes me slightly doubt the accuracy of the emulation because all the 1973 clones I've used have been a bit, eh temperamental) which makes it very easy to dial in rather full and pleasant settings. Even the compressor is really useful. The only niggle I have with it is that they emulated the rather slow VU GR meter.. so it's one of those that can be compressing quite a lot more than it is actually telling you, especially when set to 100ms release. The attack stage is just gorgeous. It's very smooth and non-clicky which is quite rare in plugin land. It worked extremely well on both male and female vocals, keeping them nicely tucked into the mix without sounding pumpy or weird.

.. and the transformer emulations sound really good, both of them. Not so fond of the desk emulations though, but that's just 2 of the 5 options available so no big loss there.

Finally I have to commend VoosteQ on the behavior of the knobs. They are really "nice" to operate. I always end up on pretty much exactly the value I was going for. They just operate really nicely at default settings. This is not at all the case for all plugins. Some companies have terrible scaling and smoothing for their virtual knobs/faders. This is one of the better ones in my opinion.

In short: Yeah, this plugin is really good. Absurdly good value during this sale.

Yeah, it's probably not the best idea to have them kneel down in front of your gear...
but then again things can happen in the heat of the moment, right? :hihi:
