Systemwide is the correct term. Sorry about that!

And yes, all audio will be processed by VSX. Unfortunately, their site still says windows support is coming in 2 weeks (but I think it’s said that for over a month or longer).

Aside from installing it which if I remember right, requires a restart, it’s super easy. On Mac it’s just a dropdown menu to turn on/off.

It’s a great way to get used to the headphones.

According to the tracking, they'll get here on Tuesday. Man, I cannot wait! This is an exciting step in a new direction.

Thank you for your patience with all this information, I really appreciate it. :tu:

I use Realphones with DT880's and It has certainly helped in some circumstances, though I struggle with losing reference points once I start tweaking things to fix issues over different rooms. I'm not sure why VSX would be any better for that and how it could be so much better in general to be worth the price.
I did some research into RealPhones and if I was on a tighter budget I'd go with them. But the only headphones I have are a nearly twenty year old pair of AKG 240 Studios, which work great for tracking and general use but are not what anyone would call high end. But I think I'd feel compelled to try to buy some better headphones to go with RealPhones were I to go that route, and I'd invariably get the best cans I could afford, so I'd end up spending just as much money as I would with VSX or more. (RealPhones=$100, leaving me $200 to invest in a decent set of cans before I would be exceeding the price of the VSX.)

And that's a big part of it right there. Realphones works with a great variety of headphones, but VSX provides a custom set of cans specifically built to work optimally with their software and their virtual rooms.

If I already owned a $500 set of cans like some people do then RealPhones would probably be a more appealing option to consider. But as it stands VSX provides a complete self contained package that has everything I need to get going. RealPhones would require me to go out and try to find out what headphones work best with it that I could afford and the results aren't guaranteed; some cans work better with it than others.

Slate offering a cohesive package that works very well together is appealing, you know their headphones will work well with their software.

Systemwide for windows has been available in the download centre for a while now, I guess they say that on the website because it's still technically a beta version

I've been using VSX for about 4 months. I've mixed entire albums as well as mastered classical and big band recordings. It's a great mix environment that's super consistent. The one downside to headphones is panning. I notice a bit of L-R smear or vagueness of extreme sides when panning a soloed mono channel. However, this can be compensated for and doesn't keep me from using the VSX system almost excusively.
