I'm thinking about a lot more than just vocals, it would be nice to have some very subtle backwards verb on percussive elements. Doing it manually doesn't encourage experimentation, it's too much of a chore, if you need to try 30 different things before you hit on a cool effect, you're unlikely to bother with the manual method.

Plugins dedicated to reverse effects:

UnitedPlugins Mirror combines reverse delay and negative delay, creating cascading rhythmic effects and reverse reverbs.

Baby Audio Comeback Kid offers reverse delays, reverse pitch shifting, and stutter effects, perfect for experimenting with vocals, drums, and instruments.

Soundtoys Decapitator 3 while primarily a distortion plugin, its "Tape" mode includes a reverse option, creating a lo-fi and gritty reverse reverb effect.

Plugins with dedicated reverse modes:

ValhallaDelay: boasts a wide range of features, including a dedicated "Reverse" mode for creating classic backward delays.

The best reverse delay I've found is a preset on Guitar Rig 6.

Other Desert Cities also has reverse delay.

Been intrigued by Sinevibes Skew, but enough yet to plunk down money on a plugin that offers no demo.

I think people (devs) who try to approach this problem of doing reverse stuff are doing it all wrong, but I appreciate there isn't instantly another way of doing it other than buffering the signal (which means playing it into the plugin) and reversing this 'stored memory' of the signal.

My question to the community of plugin devs is, when will you start using ARA in more advanced, experimental ways? It's great for capturing audio signals for advanced pitch analysis and manipulation. But it can also be used for this purpose.

So here's the challenge from the bottom of a thread about reverse reverbs/delays, who will be the first dev to use ARA in a reverse reverb/delay plugin? If I had the framework and time to do so, believe me, I'd be having a look, and I know it's possible, and it would literally instantly solve 'this' (doing reverse reverbs/delays the 'correct' way). I wonder who'll be the first?
Mirror does work.

It relies on delay compensation. It reports a delay compensation (based on the selected beat value in the plugin and tempo of the project) to the host and uses that as buffer to do its thing.

The drawbacks are that some hosts max out delay comp at a certain amount of ms (Like Pro Tools) and that it inevitably introduces a huge amount of latency.

Hi there! Artemiy from Sinevibes here. All of our plugins have had demo versions since we started the plugin business :-) And of course Skew is no exception. Demos can be downloaded from each product page, the links are right near the "buy now" links. Cheers!

Sorry, of course you are correct. I am not sure where I got that from, but I obviously know better since I downloaded demos of some of your other plugins. Thanks for the correction. I will definitely take skew for a trial. :tu:
