Sometimes simplicity makes one more productive. A recent example is Axxess vs Oddity. Lots of people prefer Axxess because it's dead-easy to use.
I think this isn't aimed at anyone who has the full OB-E, or the SEM.
It's a simplified version of both.
Three OB levels now, differing in complexity - OB-EZ, SEM, and OB-E.
Not for me, but I can see where it would be appealing for someone who wants a simplified version,
and doesn't have either of the other ones.

Edit: GForce - don't forget to put the X-mods in impOSCar3. And could you hurry it up a little please. :hihi: 8)

This..
and there is a another reason which is the real reason, yet to be revealed.

Possibly it's a true "preset" player meaning that all future preset banks for OB-E will work in OB-EZ too..?

It would work. GForce is known for their great presets. People would certainly buy. And it’s not like this is new territory for them, Mellotron expansions have been selling great for years.

abernathy wrote: Thu Feb 22, 2024 2:52 pm I do like this, but is it a restricted preset player? I don't see a way to import OB-E patches/collections? I guess it would have to be because of the price? But this does make me want to stick to OB-E. I wish they had just added a simple interface view to OB-E.

You don't need to import OB-E patches, you just see them in the browser.

I guess the inspiration was the OB-SX. I'll probably never program OB-E so this is fine.
Is this true? I’m not at home now but I didn’t see my OB-E patches in the OB-EZ browser.

On the far left it has two labels for me, OB-EZ and OB-E. Unless I was being super dense: not at my computer now to check, you've got me doubting myself now as I only looked at it very briefly.

Hopefully I just missed looking in there! Thanks

Here’s hoping.
Would love to run those OB-E presets in OB-EZ.

Wow - I missed that it's free if you've got OB-E.
I logged in and it shows in My Instruments :tu:
Downloading now. Thanks GForce. 8)

Simple interface with the same fantastic sound.

The two folders on the left are 'All' and 'OB-EZ'.
If you click on the 'folder' icon, you see 'Factory' and 'User' directories.

Right, back on the computer and I see you are right. Odd, I thought I saw more presets when I hit 'ALL', but it seems it's the same presets whichever you select. Just re-read the GForce blurb and you will be able to import OB-EZ presets into OB-E, but no mention of the other way round.

I do see the value of providing a simpler interface, that could be useful at times, but I'd rather they just made that an optional interface for the OB-E plugin (like Pigment's new play mode) rather than making me install a whole other plugin just to access it, especially if it doesn't even share the same presets.

It is nothing at all like SEM, which has an extra oscillator and is monophonic. It uses the OB-E's full engine, so it's really more like Analog Lab than anything, except it only does one instrument, not a full collection of them like AL.

I've tried importing OB-E presets and it doesn't recognise them, so that's out, at least for now. Still, I realised I hadn't even bothered to install OB-E on my current computer so this thing is definitely a major improvement for me.
