Can Ableton transform MIDI?

Aha! Thanks! I should have thought of that as I basically do that with drums, using separate tracks for the various parts of the kit.

So final answer is yes, you can alter MIDI input in real time and record it though as many things in Live, it won't be perfectly obvious how at first.

It might be nice to have the option to record them directly to a track without having to route to another. Pre- Post- as it were.
