I'm not saying this is bad or good, but you'll need to bounce the track to record the effects as far as I can tell.
So final answer is yes, you can alter MIDI input in real time and record it though as many things in Live, it won't be perfectly obvious how at first.
It might be nice to have the option to record them directly to a track without having to route to another. Pre- Post- as it were.
