Thanks! Red sent me the poem and luckily, I had a chord progression that fit well. The lyrics being about war and drinking, low tuned power chords had to be part of the chorus. To convey drunkenness, I sent the vocals to a modulated delay line. Lots of automation on that track. I distorted my voice and layered a vocoder to add more weight to chorus.

Maybe Red can chime in with the inspiration for the poem.

This was written as a poetry contest entry is 2013.
The prompt was Viking mice.
Originally just 3 stanzas, I expanded it it last month, maybe August.
This changed the story completely, from being about an army of scary viking hamsters, to being a mob of drunks unable to fight.

Hamsters, mice ... bunch of lightweights. Can't hold their drink.

It was mice chewing through the cables.

Great track, full of tasty contrasts. I particularly enjoyed the power chords and the timing of the drums through those sections, which gave the song a very heavy vibe. I thought the mix was very good, and dealt with the sonic variations very well.

Good work :)

The idea with the drums was to give a feel of the rowing on a ship, you know, drumming the beat for rhythm of the stroke.
