-McDSP SA-3. I absolutely love it. Not sure why I don't see it mentioned more often.
i just decided to give this type of functionality some bigger attention.
for example, i really like Spec craft so far vs. adding it to my very electronic percussions coming from my modular. Patching my modular recently multi channel roundtrip thru my mac. Can´t beat the soundquality when going thru some SW EQ (+Comp) treatment.
"Plugin has turned Drug now"....and the business knows it.

My opinion also. This is the most powerful of the list imho.Dr.Gunjah wrote: Tue Dec 17, 2024 8:38 pm If you have something like a crap sounding drum loop that would take a lot of time to make it sound decent, imo nothing comes close to zynaptiq unfilter.

My primary use cases are vocals, spoken word, and restoration ... vocal resonance, not background hum or ambient sources that can be repaired using other methods. TDR Nova GE's dynamic deresonate has served my needs. I start with all bands enabled in smart ops mode and then apply and solo each band in the main window and in-turn disable those that make no improvement.
I suggest to find a good example of bad vocal resonance, and use that as part of your demo process. Audible changes of timbre are something these tools can introduce. Sometimes acceptable and sometimes not. Vocals are a good test. Who would think the human ear is rather sensitive to the human voice.
Sknote's Soundbrigade, yet unmentioned, can tame resonance among other things, and happy to have it also in the kit.

It's a bit quirky and could use a few improvements, but easy to learn, dead simple to use, and updated and improved a couple of years ago. I go to it for cymbals, but not so much voice.DJErmac wrote: Wed Dec 18, 2024 2:18 am That good old Soundbrigade ! Purchased this nearly 10 years ago !
Excellent plugin ! Was already doing all this way before all of them.

And also Pro Audio DSP DSM V3.. Is an exxelent balancer .. which can sound really great.
My only whish , is some kind auto-gain compensation.
...but a really powerful spectral compressor /balancer .
I would not like to be without this one.

For some reason I never found, the results I got with v2 have always been better.sokoleski wrote: Thu Dec 19, 2024 1:30 am And also Pro Audio DSP DSM V3.. Is an exxelent balancer .. which can sound really great.

So I'm still using it.
Indeed, it's good : it has been a 50% parallel processor in my mastering chain for years.

i don't mind just slapping a limiter on whichever track is "howling" at points.
i do like Nova, but I really almost never use it.

I love Wavesfactory Equalizer…. But have also used BabyAudio‘s smooth operator, which sounds very nice as well.

I do however not use it for resonance taming (Equalizer that is).

I've not really played with these things before, and am looking now at similarly priced TDR Special Filters vs Pro-Q upgrade
Does anyone have thoughts on the sound quality difference between these? Both seem to offer good UI for "surgical" use and I have little interest in doing this to a whole mix.
