1. FIX: SynthMaster One might crash when changing skins
2. FIX: Resetting effect settings doesn't work
3. FIX: Changing effects doesn't refresh engine

Yes, backwards compatibility is our top priority.

and SM3 already can load SM1 presets (it can even load them into layers)
Are you saying that when a newer, larger version comes out (like versions 2, 3, or 4, as Frankie mentioned), it can correctly load projects made with previous versions—without needing to install the older legacy versions as well?
So it works more like Nexus, where the newer version is backward compatible, and not like Serum, where the newer version doesn't load projects created with the original one?
Is that correct?

Yes, presets would load in newer versions. But parameter automation id's could change. I don't have any plans to release a major update for SynthMaster One in the near future btw, since our main focus is on SynthMaster 3.x right now. (first v3.4/v3.5, and then iOS version, and then 4.0 in the next 24 months)

Yes, presets would load in newer versions. But parameter automation id's could change. I'm not talking about presets, but the entire plugin itself. For example:
If I have a project that uses SynthMaster 2, and I install SynthMaster 3, will those projects still work correctly with version 3? Or do I need to keep SynthMaster 2 installed alongside version 3?
Same for SynthMaster One, even if right now a big major version update is not planned.

I am answering for SynthMaster 2&3: Yes you need to keep SynthMaster 2 installed, because it has a different plugin id. (It is different because of the parameter automation changes in v3)

Thanks for the update but there is an issue with presets in the browser that also exists in SM 3. At first I thought it was a bug in the tagging system but it's not. The issue is that many sound designers are adding tags that don't really match the type of preset. Here's one example. When selecting "Synth Lead" as an Instrument Type all manner of presets show up that aren't traditional synth leads such as Arps, Seqs, Bas, Keys, Chd, FX, etc:

Sure, I suppose a lot of different sounds could be considered lead sounds in some form or another if you stretch the definition far enough but then that makes the tagging and sorting system kind of pointless.

If one is looking for lead sounds they're likely not looking for an Arp or FX or Chd etc. Doesn't make much sense to add a pre-tag to the name of the preset if the instrument type doesn't match. Might as well not use the sorting system at all and just go through all the presets if the sorting is so ambiguous . :shrug:

There is still a basic bug which I reported a while ago and still hasn't been fixed. If I use the modulation wheel while playing, sooner or later one of the notes gets stuck. I've made some cool presets for playing leads but can't actually use them yet

well it's not just my presets. it's any preset which is polyphonic with sustain. EG. #685 LED cool breeze

hold down a chord, wiggle the mod wheel a few times and when you release the keys, one of the notes is usually stuck

I read on some other site related to the iOS version of SM that the buffer sizes had made a difference. I’m not sure if it might also help on a desktop Mac or PC version?

Sorry for the delay. I was just able to reproduce this. The issue is: For presets whose amp envelopes are modulated with mod wheel/etc., if the modulation source is changing, this issue could happen.

I will work on a fix, it might be affecting SynthMaster 3 as well.
