God they were overpriced pieces of crap. Gibson didn't want to devalue them by selling them at a lower price. They just wanted the bankruptcy bailout money.

Ah well. They're only Gibsons.
None of the Gibsons I've owned were keepers, most had a fatal flaw for my playing. I.E., they were crap.
I've yet to play a decent J-45. Every one I've played sounded like they had a blanket stuffed in them. Meh.

I was in London with a buddy of mine in December and he was shopping for a J-45. Played every one we could find in various stores. One particular guitar just sounded great. Gibson shop had it in the back, special run (forgot the branding), but it sounded and played gloriously. We probably played close to a dozen in total at all the various shops. He ended up buying it and having it shipped back to the states. It's a bit of a shame Gibsons are particularly hit and miss like that.Bombadil wrote: Wed Aug 27, 2025 2:49 pm Ah well. Yeah. I took losses on every Gibson I owned, except an SG Classic, which I made about 150€ of the price I paid. That left a bad taste in my mouth, though, because the buyer tried to screw me.
Until I threatened to call the cops. Then, miraculously, the SG was fine.
