If I'm reading it right, Daves ex guitar tech now desperately needs to scramble a lot of money.
Possibly he's facing eg exorbitant medical bills coming up, and has no insurance covering that.

That’s messed up, but ime many in the music biz don’t have insurance sadly. At least here in the states. Since the US won’t provide for it’s
citizens as they do in other countries.

Well, to be fair the Reverb listing says: "We will also include the disgusting dried sweat soaked strap that was used from 2005 to 2007." If that's Dave's jockstrap, this guitar is a bargain!
