expert marketing in action here folks!
[They have heavily edited the posts now. There was a lot slagging off those judging the use of AI. Wild claims of how great sounding this product is (BEFORE the edit which discloses he works there. (He already had it in his sig! We knew bro)). And a ridiculous amount of smileys]

Thank you for stopping by and for your comments and explanations. I hope SourceLab gets more attention. As a previous customer, I appreciate that SourceLab can use the HeatUp3 library and expansions as additional source material.exonerate wrote: Tue Mar 31, 2026 11:36 amThe UI images there are showing what can be done with the Skin Editor. The Skin Editor was added so Sound designers can create there own interface for their preset packs. Completely drag and drop no scripting, this is a feature we are constantly working on. But it is completely optional if this "Real" look is not for you then you can ignore it.mesamask wrote: Tue Mar 31, 2026 4:14 am That's why:

I see comments about if we will keep supporting it in future, I can 100% guarantee this thing is getting updated constantly, now and forever . We already believe it is one of, if not the best synth on the market already. But it can be even better, this is why we are constantly updating it and supporting it with fresh content. Also you pay once and get all updates free. As you can see we are on version 2 already, SourceLab came out in May last year.
I am the developer by the way. So if anyone has any questions I can answer.
Of course I also appreciated the generous discount for HeatUp3 license-holders. Thank you and the team for that!

Thank you, too, for your comments and explanations. I appreciate the fast pace of refinements and improvements, and hope that SourceLab is a great success.

i pointed this out in the absynth 2 thread and got the typical kvr response...the answer is the market and kvr especially is irrational...hyperbole, hype machine, hivemind, fanboyism, high school clicks, mean girls, confirmation bias...all the usual suspects...sourcelab is yet another highly capable underrated flagship hybridhavran wrote: Mon Nov 17, 2025 4:39 am I had bought licenses for HeatUp 3, Sektor, and one or two other products, so I was on their email list and learned about this new product (SourceLab) months ago, but it seems there has been no talk about it here.
I wonder: why is that?
Music had a one night stand with sound design.....And the condom broke

Probably because I learned more about it in this thread than I have owning Sektor and Slice, on their mailing list etc. I still don't get the skinning? is there any reason to do that if you're not trying to release a commercial product? the initial GUI looks fine to me.havran wrote: Mon Nov 17, 2025 4:39 am I had bought licenses for HeatUp 3, Sektor, and one or two other products, so I was on their email list and learned about this new product (SourceLab) months ago, but it seems there has been no talk about it here.

Yeah hypenotic sure was a lot cockier and rude before his edits, wasn't he? It's funny how quickly he changed his tune and immediately toned down his defensive, accusatory rhetoric in his edits. All I know is that behavior sure doesn't make me too keen on purchasing SourceLab. But hey, maybe that's just me!Karbon L. Forms wrote: Wed Apr 01, 2026 6:47 pm expert marketing in action here folks!

I think the easy-skinning function is intended for people who want to make 3rd-party expansions -- no need for others to use it unless they want to.machinesworking wrote: Thu Apr 02, 2026 1:54 amProbably because I learned more about it in this thread than I have owning Sektor and Slice, on their mailing list etc.

I’ve recorded this short video for you that should clarify the purpose of the Skin Editor in SourceLab.You’re right — it’s mainly designed for 3rd-party sound designers and users who create their own soundbanks or preset packs. It allows them to present their pack with a completely custom interface that feels like their own plugin, without any coding or scripting required. That said, not many regular music producers will probably use the Skin Editor to create something from scratch, and that’s perfectly fine. It’s completely optional. Some users may simply prefer loading one of the alternative skins instead of the default SourceLab UI.Hope the video helps!

Personally I wouldn't ever bother trying to be nice as a developer on KVR, because end users like yourselves will skewer anyone who isn't perfectly aligned to your likings, then mock their dirty delete. I would just double down.Chicken Drummy wrote: Thu Apr 02, 2026 2:27 amYeah hypenotic sure was a lot cockier and rude before his edits, wasn't he? The whole reason this forum exists is to have some access to developers, talk about plugins etc. There's little or no reason to mock, belittle or humiliate them, unless you want no access at all.

Please don't lump me in with those "users" you speak of. I'm not, nor will I ever be, one of those individuals you're clearly targeting. Yes, I did call out this particular dev due to them commenting a bunch of rude sh** then thinking better of it and rightly deleting it. Good on them for doing so as it was the wise thing to do!
I'm one to take a dev's side in most cases; I've seen plenty of devs being unfairly ganged up on here on KVR and that really isn't my style. But devs are not above reproach and there are times when they overreact, lash out, act like jackasses and deserve the negative reactions they get.
In my view this was one of those times, so I spoke up about it. And honestly? I don't regret saying something in this instance because it wasn't me who was in the wrong.

Sure, I'm not that invested in this but jesus f**k do people have to lose their shit every time AI pops up? I hate it on tick tock, flooding bad music etc. but some dorky use of it in advertising is just a lot of to do about nothing. And again I wouldn't dirty delete, I would just call out people for expecting me as a developer to somehow magically not overreact when my product is shit on.Chicken Drummy wrote: Fri Apr 03, 2026 2:42 am![]()

I do not expect every single person to be the smooth criminal that Urs Heckman is, or the polished deflector that Peter from IK is. Mostly dude deleted after thinking better of it, but you and others are still lording it up. He's not Mussolini!
Beyond that, the product looks interesting. I hope the developers stick around, I'm gonna grab the demo and hope that a few things are in place, like assignable automation slots, single click arrow preset browsing, MPE support etc.

To be fair, I'm mostly with you on the AI thing. I'm no fan of AI and I've made that abundantly clear in past comments here but, yes, I admit that it does get tiring when there's always someone who jumps in with "I hate AI!" no matter what.machinesworking wrote: Fri Apr 03, 2026 5:18 amSure, I'm not that invested in this but jesus f**k do people have to lose their shit every time AI pops up? Once more, I was simply referring to the way the developer handled the situation, nothing more. AI had nothing to do with what I said - nor was I ever "lord[ing] it up."
(Still, here's an obligatory "I hate AI!" just because.
Anyway, your Mussolini remark made me laugh. I'll now take this opportunity to bow out because I've more than said my piece.
