I don’t think new features would be, but I suppose with Phase Plant they could always rationalize that by just making any new things Premium Snapins and selling them separately. New modules or effects seem very plausible for that I guess

Gpu has no added value to music software. But its hard to understand, my old 4790k could handle PP very well. Id suggest you to optimise your system and turn turbo boost in bios.Sakke80 wrote: Thu Dec 25, 2025 2:30 pm Too bad my computer can barely handle PP, would be nice synth otherwise. I can't imagine they would be if they're features of the synth itself which I guess they must be to be considered part of the synth update.HiEnergy wrote: Thu Dec 25, 2025 2:21 am Let's hope the new features aren't locked behind a paywall like "DLC" content in a computer game.
Vocoder might be a premium snapin. I've got no interest in a vocoder tbh.

Most likely due to Windows System Services. Look under the computer forum on things that definitely need to be turned off, disabled and stopped to let your machine work for you instead of them.Sakke80 wrote: Thu Dec 25, 2025 2:30 pm Too bad my computer can barely handle PP, would be nice synth otherwise. to an extent, i’m not sure i agree on this. and i say that as someone who uses phase plant on 90% or so of my synth tracks and a lot of my percussion as well. i actually like the current design where if you need something sequenced, you just build it that way. i just don’t want to see things shift to a direction that prioritizes dumbing things down like so many others have done lately. one thing i would enjoy, however, was if they really embraced modular sequencing and introduced various modules to work as building blocks to making our own advanced sequencers. like clock dividers, different instructions, etc. that could be fun. maybe even a snapin similar to multipass or snap heap but a more traditional modular space for building stuff like this. unlikely, i know, but i can dream

But can't they add arp and sequencer without removing current ways that you use?
I do think I read over a year ago that they were aware that it has no arp and it has been requested and whatever they said gave me the impression that they were working on it, if I am remembering correctly.

Several years ago they talked about this in a video, saying that a sequencer would not work with their current-at-the-time architecture (something about MIDI signal path), but they were considering working on it somehow.zvenx wrote: Sat Dec 27, 2025 1:14 am But can't they add arp and sequencer without removing current ways that you use?

Doing nothing is only fun when you have something you are supposed to do.

yeah don’t get me wrong, i don’t mean to imply an arp would ruin anything, i probably should have chosen my words a bit more carefully. i guess ive just watched so many other devs take a beloved plugin, say trash 2 for example, get everyone pumped to know a new version is on the way, then release the new trash- where they remove basically all the advanced features and everything that made it such a great tool in favor of an easy gui so they could maximize those entry level producer dollars. in truth, phase plant having an arp isn’t going to bother me in the least, i just hope that the focus isn’t overly concerned with making everything easier over making more things possible, if that makes sense. you’re right though, if it’s not taking away from anything there’s no harm in an arp. besides, kilohearts hasn’t done anything to make me doubt their ability to make v3 a masterpiece. i’m looking forward to itzvenx wrote: Sat Dec 27, 2025 1:14 am But can't they add arp and sequencer without removing current ways that you use?

Everything should be adjusted properly, but will check the computer forum, thanks.BBFG# wrote: Fri Dec 26, 2025 10:00 pmMost likely due to Windows System Services. Turbo Boost is activated, but yeah it's weird..just adding two granular oscs and modulating them, and adding bunch of effects, and audio starts skipping etc.Lbdunequest wrote: Fri Dec 26, 2025 8:52 pmGpu has no added value to music software.
