Sojusrecords Ensoniq SD1 VST emulation is amazing!

Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful that this exists. Aside from the one-instance limitation, the main limitations are difficulty of importing sysex banks and the fact that (unless I'm mistaken) there is no real way to save patches. Some of the write/load operations on the SD-1 require a button to be held while pressing another button which obviously can't be done with a mouse. It would be nice if there were a bit more 'front end' on this to allow for these types of things. But as I said, this is certainly a lot better than nothing!

Thats what the FAQ says to this topic
https://github.com/sojusrecords/Ensoniq ... v-file#faq
However, I can´t make any assignment to a midicontroller (see my post before)"Saving requires holding down PRESETS button and pressing a BANK button. You can save the presets with a little trick: assign the buttons to a physical or virtual midi controller. With this workaround you can save the preset as you can hold down any buttons simultaneous. "
What also needs to be reduced is the big latency, even with all buffers on their lowest value. Most other plugins (for example Diva or JE-8086) respond much faster even with huge buffers like 256.
Right now playing this plugin live does not feel like a real instrument to me.

I must be missing something, because I don't see a Load Media button in the interface as the FAQ describes.banal65 wrote: Thu Apr 09, 2026 3:44 pmThats what the FAQ says to this topic

EDIT: Never mind... I watched a video on how to do this and realized that the load dialog in their version said floppy, catridge or Sysex and mine only said floppy or cartridge. I didn't know they had released another version that added this. In the original version the load button would not let you select Sysex. Well that checks one big complaint off the list!

Did you guys try with different buffer setting? It's in the Settings / About screen. The default 1024 didn't work for me and I had some crackle while playing some pads but 2048 is working well on my machine.
Interestingly, none of the TUS plugins are playable on my machine anymore. Press one key and it's crackle/splutter galore. This one works so I am happy. Plus it sounds great. The Pads are so gorgeous. Only gripe is the browser or lack there of...

The only buffer setting that causes sputtering and such for me is the lowest setting. The others are all useable, although the latency is an obvious issue as others have mentioned.satYatunes wrote: Thu Apr 09, 2026 4:30 pm Did you guys try with different buffer setting? Thx! Really great one! Runs surprisingly well on my old laptop, nice!
One question, what is the difference between the AVX1 and AVX2 windows version? (In fact, what is AVX?).Thx.

It's a version of thingamy on your CPU that does calculations. If you've got a machine newer than 10ish years it's likely it'll have AVX2 - The difference will be the AVX2 version just wont work if you've not got a CPU that supports that instruction set. The net benefit of 2 over 1 is better performance in calculation speedzouki wrote: Fri Apr 10, 2026 3:11 pm One question, what is the difference between the AVX1 and AVX2 windows version? Just checked out briefly this new update and I am quite impressed so far. There is still alot of mystery and stuff to figure out to me but the new 128 samples buffer setting for fast CPUs (my machine = 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-11700 @ 2.50GHz 2.50 GHz RAM 64,0 GB) makes a huge step forward to the feeling of playing a real instrument. Now this rough digital beauty really seems to start to unfold .......

Does it have PDC or does one need to adjust manually for the latency?

Nice! Not too bad for a vibe coded program.
Vendor‑Dependent Copy Protection: Customers lose. Pirates win.
(Also: I'm Accused of lying about Linux—it boots, runs my pro audio workflow, stays stable, updates--though yearly dismissed as “niche”. Yet I'm the deluded one.)

Yeah, finally a good use of vibe coding. Btw, the MAME emulation engine is not vibe coded, just the JUCE wrapper. The first public MAME release was by Nicola Salmoria on 5 February 1997

Hi! I need help with WRITE preset. Im old user of SD-1 so I know the procedure: after editing (when COMPARE lights on) I press WRITE and then I can name preset and during holding 0-9 buttons I simultaneously selected one of six buttons close to screen. As you know I cannot do this on emulation (under VST3 on Mac Intel).
I don't know how new button SAVE PRESET (added in v0.99) can help.
Can somebody tell me step by step how to solve writing please?
Thanks in advance!!
