Probably something headless. My foray into the headless realm was cheap, though I learned I really like a headless for the portability, use in small spaces and feel when sitting or walking around the house. Something a little nicer than a Haze would be welcome though.

It's coming up on the time of year when I buy another Revstar. Bought four so far, sold four so far.

I love them, I just suck at 6-string, and always give up and go back to just bass and keys where I can be at least competent

Maybe it's just not for you.
I was terrible at the harmonica. I've tried various electronic drums through the years. I was always better at programming beats rather than performing them. Sticks no sticks tried the melodics course all failed. I only thought of myself as fair on the keys.

The linnstrument was my great saving for anything non guitar/bass. It still takes me a little time to work a lot of bass figures on the linnstrument. Mostly because I don't keep up practice on that sort of stuff.

Have you ever thought that even though you love the tone the guitar is not for you?

There are a few here who love the tone of a telecaster and those who play the telecaster when it gets into their hands they fall apart. I was on a mission to get the tele tones from various telecasters and knock offs through the years till I finally got the one I own now. I embraced tele style playing to make that happen and if it didn't happen I blamed the guitar so I bought a different tele with different feature sets till I got the one that worked for me and reflected a truer telecaster tone (or at least my idealized vision of one.

I just sold my Parker guitar after much expense was paid in repair work. There was a time when I was enamored by the tone. In limited circumstances it shined such as "smooth jazz" but I could never get a close enough tone out of it for the other material I covered or for my originals.

I'm not a fan of yamaha guitars. (Don't shoot me you can still like the brand) The only one I really liked was the SG2000 and then it was because of Carlos Santana's preference for them during the 70's over his earlier SG and later PRS. As my material expanded I found less and less use for the model or the brand in my life. Worst of all was the Yamaha Variax standard. To me the default tone was the most piss pour squire stratocaster I'd ever heard in my life and the modelled tones were even worse. I had hoped that it would replace many of my current guitars and allow me the character of other guitars I loved listening to. Complete failure.

If you want to play a guitar well find a guitarist you like listening to first. Then find a guitar (and amp) settings that best emulate the tone. Then try to emulate the style of playing. Most players talk about influences other guitarists that inspired them to play. Emulation in tone and technique are the foundations of artistry that shaped their later own style.

Oh I know that's not the case. I've owned many guitars over the years, the Revstar is the one I landed on eventually as my favorite.

I'm at a point of functional proficiency with bass and keys where it just feels good to do them and I love doing it. With guitar, there's significant amounts of time I would need to put in to get to that point, and I only have so much time to spend on music. So I always end up just letting it sit rather than putting in the work to get better, then sell it after a while. Been through this cycle many times with 6 string.

My problem is that I don't allow myself to suck at it until I get better. Allowing yourself to suck until you put in enough work to get better is a fundamental part of learning.
