Aaah. So what's so "yummy" about the screenshots?

Disclaimer: Not trying to argue or provoke, just asking out of curiosity - because to me it looks quite toy-ish.
As far as looks are concerned, it doesn't look as clunky as Muse, Ardour or Rosegarden. I think the toyishness may be caused by the resolution of the screen used for the grabs.
What's yummy is stuff like the beatslicer.

The problem with wired (as far as I can tell) is that it relies on wxWidgets v2.5.x, which isn't supplied by the main debian repository (I'm using synaptic and the unstable debian branch to keep my system up to date). Currently, debian still uses the stable v2.4.2 version of wxwidgets, and it's not a trivial task to replace it if (like me) you've got a lot of other applications that depend on it. There's probably a way to have both versions installed, but I'm not sure how you'd go about doing that...

:)
Thanks :). I did that and had a play with it, but it seems very much an alpha release - some things are nice (like the graphics (well, most of them), and the akai sampler thingy), but I get a lot of segmentation faults, and there are a lot of rough eges (the effects could badly use labels for their controls, the drum machine's labels are far too small and anti-aliased to read, no way to create a new/blank midi clip that I could see...).

Once it gets a bit more stable/mature though, this looks like it could be pretty good, and I do like the nice 3-pane layout of the screen (it reminds me a bit of Tracktion's method of putting everything on the one page).

I would like to add that anyone who would like to take a stab at this would want to read the forum on sourceforge.net: http://sourceforge.net/forum/?group_id=120022
Much information and many tips on compile and installation issues.

Okiedokie, now I'm off to see if I can get Planet CCRMA installed. It's taken long enough, dammit.

I see, it all has to be looked at from the perspective of what's there in the Linux world.

Yes. Looks like it's getting there at last.
I wonder how long the road from version 0.1 to version 1.0 will be.

They're having serious bandwith issues at the moment, so I'm not sure the screenshots will load.
