It was pretty similar to making a VST plug-in but with one big difference: all the audio code is fixed-point instead of floating-point as floating-point calculations are much slower on current PDAs. So it was a bit of a brain stretch working out how to do some things, but the available CPU power is actually ok - certainly enough to put together a song if you're careful with the polyphony.

Wow, the man himself. Thanks for your response. The CPU of PPCs is obviously increasing, but the floating point processing issue is probably not much of a focus of PPC development.
Would limited floating point processing affect the ability to have a low-latency audio application for the PPC? I've been looking for a simple audio multitrack recorder application and there's really nothing out there. I wrote to core-sound (they make that compact flash digital audio interface), and Len informed me that they don't know of anyone making a multitrack application for it. Is there a technical barrier here?

I don't think they ever started.... There was a concept Photoshop mock-up at one point. Remember though that it was intended more as a FL-compatible sketchpad than a fully fledged soft studio IIRC. Make a few loops on the train home to drop into FL later type stuff.tk421 wrote:I thought they quit working on this? Wow, this Bhajis Loops thing is cool, almost as good as the early Fruity Loops. I didn't realize my Zire 71 can handle such thing.HelgeG wrote:Thanks cobalt. I browsed PalmGear's site, and found an application called Bhajis Loops that looks interesting, I will download it and give it a go.
