Erector sets... apparently they're not what I first thought they were.
You've never heard of erector set!

The ones I used are actually a more modern cheap knockoff though.

I was mostly being cheekie, but Erector WAS a wee bit before my time. Lego ruled the 'construction toy' world, and I also had a go with "Construx" (not similar to lego, but you could build stuff with it) and "Capsella", which featured capsules containing various gears'n'motors, for construction small useless machines. :D

Er...

Right, pop filters!

Erector was before my time too, I mean I'm only 20. My dad played with them.

I'm a lego child too though. :D In fack I still have 2 giant boxes filled with them in my closet. :o

And, OMG!!!!!!! Capsella!!!!!!!!!! :-o  :o I had thoes things too. I remember one of them had yellow floaters and a propeller that made it travel through the water. I had another one too that was voice activated. :o We must be around the same age. :)

Oh, sorry...

The voice-activated ones must've been after my time. ;) I had the yellow floaters and propellors, though.

I'm 31. :D

Pop filters... wonder if we could've made one with Capsella? (JK..)

One thing nice about being old, I had all the cool toys. I had Tinker Toys when they were all wood; yes--I was born before the Age of Plastics. And my Erector Set was NOT battery powered. It had a plug in motor with an open-to-the-air gear train that could literally crush your finger. And believe it or not, my Mr. Potatohead required a REAL potato and all the face parts had two sharp spikes each to jam into the potato. Yes, I was born before the Age of Lawyers.

The Age of Plastic Lawyers...

And don't get me started about my Daisy Red Rider!

Pop shields--has anybody ever actually bought a real one?

I haven't heard of Erector, either. But I did grow up on Meccano. Is Erector anything like that (hopefully, you have heard of meccano)?

If I recall my Erector lore correctly (boy, I like the way that phrase rolls off the tongue, don't you?)--Erector was originally built in the USA but eventually went out of business until raised from the dead by Mecanno, a French (or English?) company.

Ah - that explains it! I'm also used to Meccano but have never heard of (the kinky) Erector. And Capsella - the last time I used it was when I was fourteen and used a capsule for making a candle. And lego of course - I especially enjoyed the space lego. And my all-time-favourite: Castillos! This is a lego-like thing for constructing medevial castles and it's fabulous. Now my nieces and others use them and "I just show them how to build" . http://www.historialago.com/maq_000_exi ... los_01.htm

I haven't any pop filter as yet, but at least I have quit singing into an old (but not smelly) cotton sock!

Read an Axl Rose biog a while back. He used to use 'last night's whores tights' for a pop shield. Changing them daily for 'inspiration'. Apparantly - "The fishier the better" :? :nutter:

Nonono, we had meccano & lego. I never heard of erector before. It probably was only sold in Amsterdam in selected zones.
