two different monsters , two neo-distinctive soundscape possibillities ....

Nuendo is the OFFICIAL ProTools Killer, hint !!!

;;; but for instictive functionality CakeWalk was the first PRO tOOLs. {History ... remember ?, maybe not}

-new generation is O.K. with me.

They both suck, and although nuendo is 20 to 40 percent better audio engine, it is 3 times the price. :x

Tracktion is free, btw

Yes it has multitracking, 64 bit broadcast wav format and many options geared towards the film industry. I prefer Nuendo over Cubase as I use adobe premiere. I prefer Cubase AND Nunedo over Sonar.
Actually the surround support in Sonar4 is arguably more "true" than in Nuendo. Read the latest review in Mix: it appears the reveiwer claims Sonar4 is the the best choice for surround work currently available.

i meant professional as in Sonar being more user friendly, i dont know why i see it in that kind of way, ima try it out cracked nd see if i like the new 1, then well see about which to buy. ive used tracktion, its not bad. keep coming at me with opinions, nuendo is catchin up on the polls.

"More pro" definitely depends on what aspects you are talking about. Depending on the feature I could argue the case for Nuendo being more pro OR Sonar being more "pro".

Maybe you should try the demo rather than crack...

I currently have 264 different plugins available to Sonar, from a very wide spectrum of developers. With no compatibility problems. I have used and tested hundreds more.

The one developer who's plugins consistently give problems in other hosts, including Sonar? Steinberg.

Funny that; can't even stick to their own standard. Not a good sign.

What was that about compatibility again?
Good points Rabbit. I too have a wide range of plugs and to be honest I get as good of compatibility, if not better, with more instruments and plugins in Sonar than I did in SX/Nuendo. This "not native VST host" is such a BS red-herring and I never hear anyone actually offer any concrete experience where they've had issues. All I hear is "oh well when I TRIED Sonar I had this one plug that I think maybe didn't work quite right..." Whatever.

No such thing.Vst has to wrapped even in Cubase/Nuendo to even work in a Windows based host. The disadvantage of Cubase/Nuendo is the built in wrapper can't be updated until the program itself is updated. If I had a nickel for everytime Nuendo wouldn't open because of a compatibility issue due to a certain VST plug....................

I thinks it's sane to not want corrupted project files and the program to open at all times and burdensome dongles and flawed code that results in crashes.I said goodbye to Nuendo after 1.6.2 and sometimes visit the forums stil, but still see a lot of the same complaints to problems(clicking crossfades etc.)I haven't experienced in a long time plus new ones.Hopefully support will actually materialize once Yamaha is in place, but I wouldn't bet on it or even care anymore. Those problems aren't mine anymore.

I have been running Nuendo 2.2 for several months but it's bugloaded. Even when writing automation on the FM7 makes Nuendo lock up. Rewire2 issues. I gave up using it and that makes me a bit sad. It costs a lot of money.

I am a Sonar 2.2XL user and am considering to move to version 4.
Kind regards,

best joke this thread will have.

sonar wins, even though depending on the pan law nuendo might be 3dB louder on tracks panned to the center.
