Honestly, I find "Jailhouse Rock" being a kickass song - so why not?

I found the BigBeat version of "Little Less Conversation" quite danceable...
And the Jailhouse Rock version at the end of Blues Brothers...

Not to be a thread jacker, but has anybody heard any of the tracks by a guy called "The King"? He is an Elvis impersonator that sings modern rock covers like Nivahna's "Come as You Are" or funnier yet, Joy Divisons "Love Will Tear us Apart..Again". Gave me a chuckle.

no need to be so hard on elvis, i used to be the same as you... thought he was a fat pile of cheese thats just dripped from a 28 ounce burger, but then someone played me a DVD about him with shots of him in the studio or just hanging out and i really started to like him, he was a funny, sensitive, passionate guy and although he wasn't 'that' talented he was a true entertainer. none of your robbie williams shite thats for sure.

When I was a kid Elvis was the icon of cool, but I also thought Dark Shadows a real scarry.
fade away, like Marylin Monroe or even Kurt Cobane.
As far as Robbie Willains, I have some friends who know him and they tell me he is a pretty good guy and treats people very well. I may not be into his stuff, but being nice to people (including those who work for you) gets points in my book.
I think the thread has been hi jacked.

HA!
The warden threw a party in the county jail.
hmmm prison warders of the 50s known for their generosity were they??
The prison band was there and they began to wail.
The band was jumpin’ and the joint began to swing.
You should’ve heard those knocked out jailbirds sing.
again prison wardens known for their generosity?allowing such rebellious acts as rock n roll bands form and practise in prison?
Spider murphy played the tenor saxophone,
Little joe was blowin’ on the slide trombone.
The drummer boy from illinois went crash, boom, bang,
The whole rhythm section was the purple gang.
where exactly where these contraband items hidden when spider, joe and the rest were processed?
the next ones a doosy...
Number forty-seven said to number three:
You’re the cutest jailbird I ever did see.
I sure would be delighted with your company,
Come on and do the jailhouse rock with me.
now picture that scene again in a prison in the 50s
more like "pick up that soap beatch!" wouldnt you say?
The sad sack was a sittin’ on a block of stone
Way over in the corner weepin’ all alone.
The warden said, hey, buddy, don’t you be no square.
If you can’t find a partner use a wooden chair.
hmmmm...
Shifty henry said to bugs, for heaven’s sake,
No one’s lookin’, now’s our chance to make a break.
Bugsy turned to shifty and he said, nix nix,
I wanna stick around a while and get my kicks.
"no id rather stay here and get bummed by number 47 and that chair has had her eye on me since we got here.freedom what the f**ks that for?"
hahahahahahaha

I stray away from comparing elvis to the beatles since they were without a doubt in a completely different league than elvis. elvis was the justin timberlake of his time...CypherOne wrote:I prefer The Beatles.
Maybe The Beatles started off as a pop band- but they at least had the sense to recognize that it was shite, and do their own thing.

vurt be warned
I have written the president of the 'elvis lives' club about your opinion of elvis
expect a herd of rabid over-wieght white trash bitches on your doorstep any day now
you better have lots of deep fried peanut butter sandwiches ready
it's the only thing that may stop them from eating you alive
