People living in expensive countries HAVE TO price the products accordingly. IMHO your statement is pretty damn short sighted and self-centered. USE FREEWARE.

Nitro is a multimode filter. CrusherX is a four-osc synth (looks like only one-osc in the VST version), sampler, and multichannel granular processor that also has a multimode filter and effects (reverb, stereo delay, stereo pitch shift) built in. Don't know if Nitro has multichannel outputs either - CrusherX has 10.

I bought the original Crusher-X ages ago when it could be had for $40 before tha interface change. Was able to get some cool things hapening with it. There was alot it could do to mangle samples and create glitchy sounds. Stayed with updating it till version 3 came along. At that time I could have upgraded to 3 for $70 or so, but I was dead broke at the time and did not do it. One thing that I often got frustrated with was how to control it. You could use a joystick and record it as it was playing live (it is a live performance instruement) but I soon lost interest and it sits idle on my pc. The fx that came with ver.2 is pretty useful and this looks like it is an outgrowth of that plugin. I would like to upgrade but it is still beyond what I want to spend on an instument. I like Tobybears Deco vsti which can do similar things to sound. I will stick with that for now.

Yes, I know they're different beasts... Folks, I was just saying that they are comparably complex and high-quality VST effects, neither less nor more.

I think a closer comparison might be Absynth, as crusher-x also functions like a synth. So where Nitro is a multi-fx unit, crusher-x has multi-fx on top of it's granular synth functions.

Does the new VST version of Crusher-X function like a synth easily now? I remember when I tried the standalone it was confusing to get the MIDI routed into it, although I was younger and greener then.

I guess it depends on how important this plug is to your music.
I create music that is more on the acoustic side.
A plug like this would only get used occasionally for some FXs and tricks.
Therefore I don't think I will buy it at the current price.

But if you create electronic music where sound design is important and this plug would be used all the time I am sure it will be worth every penny.
